How much will a new kitchen cost, fitting included.

Just trying to get a very approximate idea of costs here, including fitting - so we can do some budgeting ready.

We have bought a house and I want/need a new kitchen. I do know what I want kind of, but wondered if anyone has had a new kitchen recently and it they have some rough costs that can share - to give us an idea.

Kitchen isn't huge: see here It should give you an idea of how much we want.

We are getting separate fridge/freezer and cooker I think, as I have already seen what I want. And don't need washer or dryer in either as they go elsewhere.

We will need a dishwasher though - probably a slim line one I think - the plumbed space for one is only slim line at moment. And we are used to slim line and it is plenty big enough.

I think I want a high gloss type of kitchen units, rather than a wooden look. Quite a modern, clean feel - ina cream or buttermilk colour (think cream Smeg fridge).

Would like a light wood worktop (maple/beech). Doesn't have to be real solid wood though - happy with the effect

No wall tiles - want a glass splash back behind cooker instead.

Not decided on flooring yet but will probably just go for laminate stuff. It's practical for what we want and not expensive.

So, any ideas of how much I should expect to pay?

Hoping to go to house this weekend for a second look, and to get more accurate measurements.

Secondhandrose - I was wondering same. What has happened at MFI? I guess they must have new designers in. Called in there last weekend to have a look and they had some lovely looking products. Don't remember it being as nice int he past. Mind it did help as they were handing out sparkling wine and chocolates

Hello,

My boyfriend is a builder and he always recommends buying the stuff your self and getting someone else to fit it as the best option economically.

It is somewhat more laborious that way but will save you a few grands! I guess it depends on whats more important for your household, if you can manage in slight bedlam with all the tooing and throwing for a few days then it would pay.

I suggest, getting a skip and either hiring labourers or waste clearance people to remove your old kitchen. Or donate it to some charity for free? or advertise it on www.gumtree.com someone may have it and its free disposal for you.

Have your new kitchen delivered and hire someone to fit it. Remembering to do the floor first!

I'd say that this way will cost you £500/600 max for kitchen removal. 2/3K for kitchen and flooring 2K for complete fitting, but shop around! total approx 5/6K max.

All-in-one jobs are easier but definetly not the the cheapest.

We are having a new bathroom put in and I had the Sharp/Moben/Dolphin group in to quote me, honestly you could just about swing a cat in my bathroom and 7K was the quote

The bathroom itself at most would cost 2k all in and my partner will fit it, but even if he didnt we could pay someone 1K (if that) and we would be all done and dusted.

Wasn't Moben in Dogwatch last week? they said that they had lots of complaints for unfinished/dodgy works.

Order it now

Have spent whole weekend (plus past week too) looking and visiting showrooms, searching net and asking around. Ended up getting a Schriber kitchen from MFI as it was simply the design we liked best. TBH we chose the Smeg fridge freezer first and built it up around that Cost us less than £7000, including fitting for:

Smeg fridge/freezer (cream)
Smeg free standing stainless steel cooker and hood
Intergrated slim line dishwasher
All base and wall units - in a cream high gloss finish (11 in all I think)

  • Glass splash back for cooker
  • Corner carosuel things for corner cupboards Stainless steel round sink and single tap ( metal rods under units, with cook books holder, etc to hang on Cutlery insert Beach block effect work top

Really bleased with it all. Took about 90 minutes to plan, despite us knowing what utilities, units and work surface we wanted. Have some fab design pictures to look at now untill the real thing comes.

Not going to do floor until it is in (will make do) as we are going to have either a conservatory or an extension to other side of kitchen/diner - so would prefer to get it all done at once.

Very really excited now

sounds lovely! lucky you i really want a new kitchen,
now you come to mention new rooms i would lso like a new bathroom and hall stairs and landing!!

Hulababy · 21/02/2005 10:54

LOL katzguk. Next think for us to look at is the extension to the other end of the kithen diner. Not a big one - only about 2m by 2.5m, one story. BIL is coming over in a couple of weeks to have a look. He is a Building Surveyor so is going to have a look, suggest what he thinks is best and then draw up the plans for us. Because of the size, etc. he thinks it is unlikely we will need planning permission - which I hadn't realised
May be on look out for builder recommendations though. DH may have some contacts but need to have extra quote once plans are drawn.

I've just had a new kitchen put in, finishing touches going in as we speak. The whole thing cost £14000 including fitting, electrical, flooring and tiling. Not including £600 on a Smeg stainless steel freestanding dishwasher which wasn't essential but I had to have!

BecksHwith3 · 19/05/2017 11:36

Look at Howdens (can be ordered through a tradesman), and shop around local bespoke kitchen makers, our bespoke one was £4K (thankfully not £45K!!!)
