Playhouses - do your wee ones actually play in them?

Wondering about getting dd a playhouse for the garden for her 2nd b'day. Can't see us spending over £60 (so no links to adorable expensive ones please!).

Just wondering, do kids actually play in these? The people I know who have them just use them to store bikes and trikes (we already have a shed dedicated to that purpose).

Thanks!

They have playhouses in Tesco for £65 direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-6731.aspx or what about Wilkinsons www.wilkinsonplus.com/invt/0227945 a friend bought this recently and it's quite well made for £60!

We haven't got the room for one but when we visit friends then the kids are always inside...they have put things inside tho ie kitchen and chairs etc.

There's also this one from ToysRus at £59.99 www.toysrus.co.uk/Product.aspx/TruHome/TruOutdoorSports/TruOutdoorSportsPlayhousesTents/725609?ref=S earch

we have a plastic one and dd rarely plays in it, tbh it just gets used to shove outdoor toys in, although we have had a picnic in their today at her request lol

we've had one just for a couple of months and is a big hit. girls are 6,3 and 1

nappyaddict · 24/08/2008 15:54

does anyone have a wooden one with the perspex windows? do you still get spiders in them?

hana · 24/08/2008 15:59

yes we have perspex windows and get spiders. think it's unavoidable.

will freak out if we get mice though

We have a Little Tykes log cabin but they have never really played with it.

When DS1 was a toddler we used to keep losing him in shops and he was always to be found in one of the LT playhouses. We could never justify the expense of one though, so it was for DC4 that we finally bought one.

We use it for keeping things out of the rain.

i quite like the tower ones. something like this

ChippyMinton · 24/08/2008 16:13

No. Ours has been at MIL's for the last 3 years and is used as a garage for the little tykes police car, which does get used whenever the DC are there (and they are now 6,5 & 4). We went for a climbing frame/swingset with a 'tower' instead as it's not enclosed so is bright and un-spidery (although it was £££)

nappyaddict · 24/08/2008 16:15

CM - which one do you have?

ChippyMinton · 24/08/2008 16:38

TP Sherwood. It's big so won't get outgrown.

There is a Little tikes pink princess one in Woolworths reduced from £90 to £40 - very small but a good one for a 2 year old. Also very pink which for my little girl would be a real sale clincher.
