Can anyone recommend a funky scooter for a 2-year-old? Ideally no more than £30. Ta!

Mini micro scooters are fantastic - £40, but worth every penny. My two-year-old has been scooting really fast for over six months now.

RealityGap · 23/07/2008 14:27

the little tykes wooden one is funky - tescos had them

halster · 23/07/2008 14:32

I second the mini micro scooters, they are fantastic. Very easy to use. We have one without the t-bar, it just has a pole at the front, a bit like a joist-stick. They grab on with both hands or they hold on with one and you hold their other - great when they get tired or when crossing roads.

MrsThierryHenry · 23/07/2008 15:44

Mini micros look good - I've seen other kids his age on those. I'll check out ebay!

Thanks MNers!

xx

They go for good money on ebay nearly as much as you can buy them new! I got mine from jojomamanbebe using the 10% discount code so saved £4 and its free delivery

theirmum · 25/07/2008 09:01

Here and they are £3 cheaper than John Lewis so would work out as £36 delivered

theirmum · 25/07/2008 23:15

Hi Blooming Marvellous have a 40% off code funning so you can get the scooter from them for £23.99p! - They are going for £30 plus delivery on ebay this includes delivery so a right bargain the code is NTS4 Heres the link to the scooter Here

minnisota · 15/08/2008 11:46

I got my 2 year old the Mini micro scooter after a recommendation from a friend. Because of the 2 wheels at the front, it doesn't tip when they lean on it. DD is now scooting really fast now.

1dilemma · 17/08/2008 01:08

How did I miss this, have been trying to get one of these for a while now!!!
Code isn't working , anyone got any more?

nappyaddict · 17/08/2008 01:26

i would be weary of the micro scooters. have heard of many accidents where they've tripped up on pavements etc. ones with the big wheels better imo.

MrsThierryHenry · 17/08/2008 12:09

I missed the code too! Can't bear to part with upwards of £40 so if anyone else has a code I'd appreciate it!

Though I might look on ebay, theirmum - you're a wealth of info!

I know you've got your heart set on the mini micro one, but if you wanted something ultra cheap - ds2 has this one. He's 2.6 and manages really well on it.

misdee · 17/08/2008 12:20

ifyou go through the mumsnet link to GLTC i think you get 10% off which covers the postage options.

not a good deal as before, but still a saving.

MrsThierryHenry · 17/08/2008 12:22

Awww, thanks, Toothyboy! I just don't understand why I can't get everything I want for under a tenner! New jeans, new car, new house...!

I'll bear that one in mind and might have to swallow my pride if I can't find a mini micro bargain.

Also thanks nappyaddict - not sure if the ones you're referring to are the same as the 'mini micro' ones, though. Can you clarify?

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 17/08/2008 12:24

well it was the ones with only 2 wheels but i presume it is the fact that the wheels are so small rather than how many wheels iyswim.

MrsThierryHenry · 17/08/2008 12:34

Yes, I see what you mean. I do know a few mums who have the micro minis, though, and have had no probs, so I think it'll be okay. Thanks for your tip, though!

Misdee, thanks - I've tried all the links and Jojomaman seems cheapest so I'll buy from them!

thanks MrsTH (I wouldn't have had you picked out for a bargain hunter get dh to run a few more ads!!)
Apparently the code never was one of theirs, at least that's what a very rude woman told me this morning, as she proudly told me it wouldn't have worked for you anyway!!!

Off to check jojo, but 10% is £4 hardly saving of the month!

1dilemma · 17/08/2008 17:42

My SIL said she got one in ELC with 20% off but I havn't seen any with them

GordonTheGopher · 17/08/2008 17:46

I got the macca pacca one from Tesco Direct. Fantastic and very easy for my 2 yr old.

anitaP · 14/09/2008 21:30

why don't you try www.grubbyknees.co.uk - they have a lovely website. xx

nappyaddict · 23/09/2008 15:14

ah it seems the mini micro scooters have the same problem as the normal micro scooters. www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1012&threadid=423188#8579371

hifi · 23/09/2008 16:12

make sure you customise it though, around here theres millions.

Maja9 · 19/03/2010 12:27

Hi, I am also looking for a scooter for a 2years old (25 months to be more precise), however the ones suggested above are for 3 years and above, do you think that can be also used for younger ones? Thanks

Belo · 22/03/2010 16:24

Dd2 had her mini micro from 27 months and took to it like a duck to water. If Christmas had fallen when she was 25 months I'm sure she would have had no problems.
