I want to prove that we can have 3 carseats without having to have a MPV

We currently have a Skoda Superb and although it is long there is no chance we could fit 3 seats across the back

Picasso here too.

A friend of mine has 3 car seats in the back of her Focus - for children aged 7,5 and 2.

dilbertina · 17/07/2008 00:02

I can just squeeze 3 in back of focus BUT are far too squashed together (I think seats are not supposed to touch?) Would not do it except in emergency as think it's prob. dangerous.

Is a Citroen Picasso an MPV?

It only seats 5 but is kind of big and uppy.

3 in the back no problemo. At onestage DS2 was in a big Britax super cruiser stage 1+ as well.

C4 Picasso - looks a lot more slick than the Xsara Picasso (think more sporty looks more like a car than a van)

It has 3 adult seats across the back, we love it although we do only have 2 child seats.

here

can anyone find a link to the seats not touching? I keep hearing this on here but can't find it anywhere and I'd like to know
Thanks

i have an mgzr and can fit 3 car seats across the back seat(thankfully as am expecting no 3),i have a 3 point belt in the middle which is a lifesaver.
it depends on the car seats as much as the car i think, some car seats are much bulkier/wider than others,
i have two different forward facing 9m+ seats and there is about 4inches difference in the width of them when they are actually fitted in the car!
maybe try a few of your friends seats in,or pop to your local baby shop and they could try a few combinations?
i think it would be impossible for the carseats not to touch,so long as the buckles are squashed so they could undo they should be fine.

Good thread Greyskull! I'm in the same position.

we're abouit to get a volvo v70.

if we could afford it I would make sure I got a newer car, and I would replace currrent car seats for isofix ones.
that way no problem with buckles rubbing etc.

I hate MPV's too - I like to drive a car, not a bus! So after lots of research I have just bought a Peugeot 307 SW. It is an estate version of the 307, but has three individual seats in the back. No probs with buckle crunch, plenty of room to do seatbelts up, and you can always move the outer two seats forward slightly to make it even easier. It has isofix points on all seats if you wish to use. Huge boot plus has points for an extra two seats - handy if you tend to have extra children in the car, or exra adults for that matter!

Definitely depends on the car seats. There's a huge variation in size/width of seats.
