There are so many to choose from. Anyone had good or bad experiences to help me narrow it down?

ds1 has a brilliant radio flyer one like this one

it's brilliant and he loves it

Puky ones are good - real tyres so they don't make that awful rattly, trundley noise. Nice and stable too.

we have this one
it is brilliant the handle is removable you can make it steerable or not you can adjust the length from seat to pedals so grows with them.

Kettler trikes are brilliant here are some. They must have air-filled tyres to be any good though (they sell both types.

Or skip the trike and go straight for a bike - the Islabike Rothan is truly scrumptious. DS2 was up and away on his in minutes and after a couple of days pretty speedy. He got it for his second birthday. He still can't ride DS1's trike yet.

\i brought an iggle piggle trike from littlewoods online and it only cost me £35! Its comes with a handle so you can push but thats pretty muse useless if your ds figured out he can steer as mine had great frun trying to get me to push him into a bush

Unfortunately hes 3 and a half now and still cant reach the peddles so i dont know if your ds could use it but he still has geat fun pushing himself til he can reach them!

I'll look at those, thanks WarmFuzzy. Heman's is in the lead so far. We live at the top of a fairly steep hill which is why a trike with a parent handle is pretty appealing at the moment. I'm not sure when I'd be brave enough to let DS on a bike around here.

Aaahhhhh - Kettlers come with parent handles. They are a bit more expensive than things like the Baby Driver, but a lot more robust.

We got our Dd the Radio Flyer fold2go tricycle. Its great - you can pull a lever so that the pedals don't go round and the steering locks when you're pushing a child who can't pedal yet, it has a telescopic pushing handle, a little boot, it folds so it can fit more easily in the car if you want to take it anywhere and it has a strong metal frame.Colour is totally unisex. Great!

twinkle & Fuzzy just looked at your first link and it looks like the first trike on the page is almost identical to the John lewis one.. just a different manufacturer... I wonder if they are really the same company with different branding?

WarmFuzzy · 09/07/2008 10:12

I think it is the same Baby Driver. I'd still plump for Kettler or Puky as they really know their onions. I remember looking at trikes in John Lewis and finding them pretty flimsy.
