Save my sanity - *please* recommend a non-leak toddler cup suitable for milk

..preferably but not essentially a non toxic one. I prefer insulated cups ideally as they keep the milk fresher. (It does have to be milk- it's complicated). I am about go out to wash my carseats and pushchair for the umpteenth time.

Currently we are on www.tommeetippee.co.uk/product/super_snack_sipper_18m_/
www.tommeetippee.co.uk/produc t/easiflowinsulated12months/
(i squeeze the straws clean each time and soak overnight)

They both leak.

Relatedly...I have a carrier bag full of plastic cups that leaked (!), that we never got to grips with or grew out of. What should i do with them? Bin em? Recycle (how?), ...???

Incidentally, did you try these from Tommee Tippee?? They work quite well for us.

DS1 uses these. They are the super sipper Kids On The Go ones from Tommy Tippee. He has five of them and we take them out with us a lot. Saying that we do keep them upright mainly as they fit in the side pockets of his rucksack so stay upright easily. We own 26 plastic cups (I counted the other day ). We tried tons of different ones. Like these best. Handwash and dishwasher them regularly and still going strong.

Oh, the same ones as WarmFuzzy said...

I am pretty sceptical about TT since we have gone thro at least of theirs (all the toddler ones have leaked). He is pretty violent with his beakers. He thinks it's fun to shake them and get them splash. I try to teach him out of normal cup at mealtimes to keep them upright and put them down gently but it doesn't last! Will try if the Playtex / Siggys don't work out. Thank you!

A noisy vote for the Anyway Up cup - I have stuck with them for 4 kids now. When the lids start leaking I just replace them but it takes quite a lot of hard use before that happens. IME the lids are very hard to get off at first but they do get much easier. The spouts are simpler and easier to clean. A couple of my kids took a while to get into them but I persevered and they got the knack. All other cups I have tried have leaked. These ones are so good I have stuck them in their beds at night full of water and never had a leak.

none of mine got on with the anywayupcup. i guess they were lazy suckers? you have to suck quite hard to get the liquid out.
i have dozens of no-longer, and often hardly used at all, cups of varying descriptions, if youd like me to send a sample selection... maybe thats what you can do with your lot.

procrastinatingparent · 09/07/2008 17:31

You do have to suck quite hard at first. But they all got good at it quite quickly. With DS3 I think I motivated him by putting juice (shhhh!) in it, which gave him the idea.

ds likes drinking milk out of his cow cup. I got mine from Boots but have seen them in the supermarket too. It has a removable valve so you can make it free-flowing or non-spill.

My ds uses the Litecup the have a 360 degrees seal , also they have a little nightlite in the bottom for bedtime(which can be taken out for the dishwasher). We ended up getting one for grandad as well, as nan was fed up with him knocking over drinks in the dark. Also use sigg bottles quite a lot

nappyaddict · 10/07/2008 13:27

what's a siggy cup?

Washersaurus · 10/07/2008 15:19

Sigg not Siggy

Although we have this cheaper version - excellent but the print rubs off quite quickly.

We have the same issues and reading you request sounded like I could have posted it myself lol!

We used the 360 cup with dd (3) how on earth a younger toddler can use it as she can't grasp the concept at all .

I have had enough though, every cup seams to leak even down to tt ones... ds (16 months) sits there with the cups upside down watching the drink tip out . TBH I have banned juice unless dd and ds are sat having lunch/dinner..got fed up of cleaning the floors. .

Will look at the playtex ones myself, having recently bought and use their disposible bottles I found them brill...maybe the toddler cups are just as good..??
