Thinking of getting this

camcorder

but just wondering how easy it is to get the film onto DVDs that play on a normal DVD player.

Hi there, I think the camcorder you like is the same or slightly newer version of the one we bought to take on our honeymoon back at the end of March this year! I loved the camera! It's very lightweight, no faff thanks to recording straight to the memory card, battery life is harsh but it is worth investing in a spare so you can still use the camera whilst the other one is charging! This is a generic problem so I am told, no matter which camera you buy, as they supply cameras with small batteries so you have to buy another one! You don't have to film through the view finder, you can film quite happily from the flip screen as the image is clear, and the buttons can be used on the screen so you don't have to move the camera to switch modes/options/turn it off etc! Sorry if I am waffling but I think my camera is brilliant and if I can answer anything specific for you then just ask!hth!Tigglyxx

Brill thank you!

Have you put any of your footage onto DVD so you watch it on the TV rather than PC?

Yup! All of our honeymoon video has been put on to dvd so we could share it around with the inlaws and outlaws! Clear as a bell, no grainyness or sound issues! Very easy to do too!

Hi Gobbledigook. We bought Sony one at Christnas and we are very pleased with it to. Picture quality is excellent and love the fact we can play it back immediately if we want on the camera. We generally use the buttons on the viewfinder rather than the actual camera but that is only because on our one my fingers are too small to reach them! We can also edit on the camera. Found downloading to DVD very easy but depending on how much film you have taken it does take a while. Although you can leave it while it does it. Easy to pick out bits to put on seperate discs if you want as well. Agree will Tiggly the battery life is rubbish (we get about hour and half) but the additional battery is quite expensive (about £80 I think). Oh and make sure your computer has a DVD rewriter bit (I think that is what it is called) ours is a cheap old one and we didn't have this facility so couldn't download at first. Bought ours at John Lewis found the guy very informative as it is easy to buy one with lots of functions you will never use. Would definitely recommend one.
