Vacuum cleaner- recommendations please

Our vacuum cleaner has finally given up the ghost after 8 years and we're on the hunt for a new one. Our last was given to us so never chose before.

We have a dog & cat so would like one that is effective at lifting pet hair. Downstairs is laminate/wood & tiled floors, upstairs is carpeted- so needs to work well on all floor types.

We would ideally not want to spend more than £200 absolute max.

Help please!

Golly its a mine field isnt it !!! I do not like choosing new appliances! I dont envy you having to choose!

I have this brand new one www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500001001&langId=-1&search Terms=73373+morphy for sale , in box
unwanted gift we certainly dont need two hoovers !!!
If you want a lower end bargain hoover you can email me
krissyandchris @ tiscali.co.uk
it reviews really well, my friend has it and loves the fact it is so light and also does floors and carpets to a high standard whilst being bagless and upright x

Otherwise will pop it up the loft!

Typical was bought for us when it was £100!!!

AHH - I did this exact post about a month ago and the general consensus was Dyson - great but some were unrealiable, Miele great but some were heavy etc, Sebo - fab. I bought a Sebo felix pet last month for £220 (£200 in Cornwall!) and it's worth every penny -goes from carpet to kitchen without changing the head (you can if you want to though as it has a parquet attachment) It swivels and is really light - utterly, utterly delighted with it!

Thanks,
will talk to DH a bit more

A friend who has had a dyson for 6 years doesn't rate it that much- she said consider a Henry- does anyone on here use/own a Henry and if so what do you think of them?

DH has been erring towards a Miele, but the Sebo looks good too....

i do rate them - i had my previous Dyson for 5 years

my Mum has a Henry (as do a lot of cleaners and cleaning companies) and i think they are pretty good
