Anyone got SKY tv, broadband and phone?

I'm thinking of signing up to Sky broadband, phone and tv because it's a cheaper package than I'm on atthe moment.

But I wanted to know if it all 'works'.
How do you find the broadband? I can't find ant information on what is included, at the moment with AOL I can have different accounts with passwords, which takes you to your own bit with your own email accounts and it's all set up for your own favourites ect.

Does Sky broadband do this? Also whats the customer service like?

Any info would be gratefully received!!

We've got this and to be honest, it was a bloody nightmare to set up, we've still not got out Sky email working, although the broadband itself is great. It is working out a bit cheaper than our previous packages, but not a significant amount. You also have to pay BT line rental on top (about £11 a month).
Customer service is a pita as there's different departments and phone numbers for everything and they don't seem to have a clue about what the other depts do. And it takes an absolute age to get through to anyone!

On the positive, SKY+ is a revelation, can't imagine life without it now, I think dd would actually die if we coudln't pause Cariie & David's Pop Shop while she went for a wee

It's all the set up that I can't be bothered with, which is why I haven't changed yet.
With AOL I pay 14.99 for just broadband, as well as BT rental. I could get it reduced but haven't yet as keep thinking about changing.

I should make a decision as it's costing me money!

I enquired about this a little while ago.

Whilst I would be saving about £15 a month on the face of it if I went all-in with Sky, mobile calls are not included in their package. I spend about £15 a month on mobile calls, so I would be breaking even and giving myself a load of hassle in the bargain.

Please check that it does actually work out cheaper for you before you consider it any further. Also, check that the package advertised is actually available to you. The cheapest things we were not allowed to have because it is a differnt type of broadband or something...

We have all 3 with sky, we get the tv package without movies and sport, which is £21 a month, then we pay £5 a month for the higher spec broadband, and £5 per month for the unlimited calls.

The lower spec broadband is free, and evening and weekend calls is free too, depends what you need.

The broadband is great, no probs, no probs with the calls either or the tv.

So we pay £31 a month for all 3, but then of course we pay line rental to BT which is £12 a month iirc.

Oh and the customer service is pretty good, and i am pretty sure that Sky now do their own line rental (i will be switching in Aug when my contract with BT runs out) i HATE phoning BT grrr!

krugerparkrules · 07/07/2008 11:11

we've got the broadband, and i have found the customer service fine, and no problems with the broadband ..... we also pay the £5 for the slightly faster one.
(Actually better than the last one we had)
I think it takes about 2-3 weeks to go from one provider to another, i am sure they do this to try and stop you taking up other broadband offers, but once that was done, it was plain sailing (the customer service will tell you waht you need)

Ivegotaheadache · 07/07/2008 11:39

I think I will take the lowest broadband speed, as that's what I've got at the moment adn it's fine. My phone line only supports 4mb anyway, so I think the 2mb will be ok, and it doesn't cost extra which is the main thing!

I'd take the free evening /weekend calls, as I've got a good deal with my mobile so I use that mainly anyway. And I'd want 2 extra tv things so it would bring it to 18.00 per month. Adn BT rental on top.

What's this about sky taking over the line rental? Does it cost more/less?

It's just a question of actually doing it, I've been with AOL for sooo long that I'm actually a bit wary of going somewhere else. Not because AOL are so brilliant, cos they're not really it's just I sort of wonder if I change will I regret it as it will be more trouble than it's worth.

Will just do it i think. We've only got the freeview channels (through our old sky box) and according to the dc's they are the ONLY ones in the world that don't have sky.
