ours died last week - although it hadnt been right for a while.

Problem with motherboard thing apparetnly

They are a bastard to fix, most call out people charge £40 just to look at them, so can easily be £100+

Having said that I am gettng used to life without it - there is only 3 of us in our house sowas taking 3+ days to fill which was a real pain. Ours is integrated so to replace will be £375... grrrrrr

biglips · 01/07/2008 16:11

integrated dishwasher - what is exactly that?

I think it means it's built into a fitted kitchen, so you can't just go and buy any new one you feel like

geordieminx · 01/07/2008 16:47

Have a gold star POTC.

Yeah, it means you cant see the front of the dishwasher, its behind a cupboard door - so the buttons are on the top

Yes ours died without warning too. Apparently the sup overflowed due to a blockage and that makes it cut out so it can't be used. Engineer drained it and it is now fine. Doesn't have to be terminal.

biglips · 01/07/2008 19:29

oooh i wonder if my Dp can fix it??

mine died last summer, all lights were working it tried to make a noise as if it was going to do something, but nothing happened. I cleaned it all out and periodically tried it again to no avail.

Anyway just before christmas when i thought i must replace it, i gave it a go and bingo its been perfect ever since!!

Weird, no idea what happened but there was a 4 month wait for it to 'get better' !

Niecie · 02/07/2008 19:22

Sounds like ours forevercleaning - when the sump fills up apparently it cuts off the cleaning cycle. It is like the programme is stuck and it refuses to wash.

I would guess that whilst it was standing, unused, yours slowly drained away.

Am no expert though.

Our pump went and had to be replaced - £90 it cost us to fix, mind you, that included parts and labour. It was the same - suddenly died.

plumandolive · 02/07/2008 19:43

We,ve just had ours fixed- like LolRed it was the pump- ours was £60 and lovely to have it back, never knew how much I'd miss it.DCs will fill a dishwasher but less easy to get hem to wash up......

forevercleaning · 02/07/2008 19:52

i thought i would save a fortune by not using the dishwasher whilst it was having its 'rest', but infact when you are on a water meter like me it was a bit of false economy.

apparently a dishwasher doesnt use that much, unlike washing up and rinsing 3 times a day.

biglips · 04/07/2008 13:33

well the dishwasher is working!!!
