Fisher Price Smart Response swing - anyone have one?

We're thinking about buying dd one of these, as she bawls if put down for more than 2 seconds, and it really would be useful to have some time to wash up occasionally . However, I'm still sceptical, and was wondering whether anyone has found them useful or are they a complete waste of money?

I've just bought a swing for dd (due next Monday!) as I had a putting down problem with ds. I have never tried one but friends who did have them swore by them. Kiddicare.com do the cheapest ones I have found. I think, looking back, it would have been a brilliant buy for ds, and you can always flog them afterwards on Ebay!

I'm getting tempted.......My parents just looked after dd for the day and asked what's stopping me (they considered it an essential for dd) ??

They have the fisher price delux take along swing in Argos, reduced from £59.99 - £29.99!
Dont know if it is the same kind of thing, but it has flashing lights & music.
I have just seen it on there website.

Thanks blueteddy, unfortunately as dd is now 9 months we need the whopping big one that'll take her up to 2 yrs.

I bought the FP Smart Response when I had #5. It was the first time we had a swing, and tbh, I got it because I simply didn't need anything and we received some Babies R Us vouchers from DH's work colleagues.

I was very happy with it. It was great to be able to put DD down when I needed to cook or whatever. FTR, I went through only 2 sets of batteries in the six months that we use it, so it's not expensive to run.

Downsides - it takes up a lot of floor space, and doesn't really free up much when it is folded. It only lasts for a few months.

Ameriscot2005 - when you say it only lasted a few months is that because your babe got bored of it, or because the marketing is really stretching it when they say a 2 yo will fit in it?

The one I had, you had to stop using it when the baby started climbing out. Can't quite remember when that was for us - maybe around 7 months?

I can't imagine a mobile baby wanting to stay in a swing for long, so I think 2 years is probably pushing it, even if the swing is robust enough.
