The perfect wine glass

Hit me with your favourite wine glasses!

We have smashed every single wine glass we own and I’m using this as an excuse to buy a nice set.

We had an expensive set (gifted to us) but they were ugly and didn’t “feel” right. I wasn’t a fan of them but couldn’t justify buying new when we had a perfectly useable set. Our ceramic sink has now taken care of that!

They do smash so dont spend a lot

just pick up a couple of boxes of 6 at tk max/ home
sense. I wouldn’t want to spend much on something so breakable

I got a huski insulated travel wine glass recently and I love it as I’m a white wine drinker and it keeps it cool and is unsmashable, I’ll never go back 🤣🤣

We generally use stemless glasses for this very reason, plus the fact that DDog’s tail is exactly stem height at our wine coffee table

I have had perfectly nice ones from TK maxx. Charity shops in moderately posh areas are also chock-a-block with crystal from elderly people dying.

Anything with a nice thin rim really. I have teeeny ones which are very unfashionable but mean you have to refill about every 100ml which is a very effective alcohol consumption limiter.

TK maxx quite often has dartington in there, I've had nice ones from RCR before from there as well. I reckon you have to buy them in store as you need to open the box up and feel the rims. I don't think it's worth spending too much as they just do end up broken. If I can get two identical sets of stuff like that at once I tend to so I still have matching ones after a couple of breakages.

I also have ultra ultra cheap champagne flutes as well as some decent ones. Basically that way if people are going to be getting pretty tipsy I don't risk the good stuff. I haven't managed a new year's party yet without losing a wine glass!

I need it! We have a campervan and this looks fantastic. Now to go off and google where I can buy one or two 😂

Maybe that’s my issue. I’ve been searching online and haven’t seen any that stand out. I need to just go and look/ feel them in person. I’ll pop down to our local TKMaxx and see what I can find. Ours have all smashed in the sink. Every single glass and we had at least 12 glasses! Can’t blame guests as it’s been the pair of us clumsy idiots 😂

We like reidel glasses - used to be able to get in house of Fraser. Am fussy about the shape and feel! Would quite like to get some stemless ones at some point though.

Depending on where you live you might also find a catering suppliers. There’s a brilliant one in Newcastle with a retail section.

second also TKMaxx.

I find the Dartington glasses hard to beat. They are pleasantly thin, and reasonably priced.

We also have some bulletproof French commercial wine glasses which we got a big box of on eBay, as we also tent to break them on a regular basis.

Im intrigued by the Huski insulated wine glass. We have their wine cooler and it's absolutely brilliant

I bought mine in John Lewis , they were own brand , can’t remember exact price but £35/£40 for set of 6 maybe . They’re strong enough to withstand dishwasher & being knocked ( slightly of course ) but delicate enough to still look & feel nice if you know what I mean .
BUT having said that I also have a set from a supermarket ,can’t remember which one and they are amazing and were super cheap , have lasted years & if I ever saw the same again I’d clear the shelf for spares !
