Steam generator irons are rubbish

Well I finally got my all singing all dancing top of the range Tefal steam generator iron.

I had it all of 24 hours - absolutely crap! I took it back and fortunately got a full refund.

It left black marks on clothes - it would iron a few ok (only ok!) and then bam - black marks!

I put my 100% cottom duvet cover on to iron and waited to be blown away with the power of my new iron - what a let down - my old Phillips steam did a better job.

Also I was expecting not to have to fill the tank every 5 mins it being a large tank - but no - it emptied just a quick as a normal one.

Don't waste your money ladies!

Oh no, and there was me thinking '£180 - bargain, I'll get 2!'

How's the painting going?

I've had a crap day but won't bore you with it.

Didn't tell you - Mrs K at nursery told me the other day 'Thomas is exceptionally good at numbers..anything mathematical'

You should have bought a Bosch!! I love mine, it does about 1.5-2hrs ironing on a tank. Plus it's halved the time it takes me to do the wretched stuff.

Same here with a Phillips. It's great apart from the fact that, when I really get going, it ends up steaming up my glasses and the windows .

I have officially retired my Tefal after less than a year's use. It was sent back for repair when it failed to produce any steam. Then it worked intermittantly, but in the last few days the red light was on permanently.

Now I have an ordinary steam iron, and it's fine.

It was easier and quicker to iron with the Tefal (when it worked), but it didn't give "perfect" results that would want me to go down that road again.

I'm surprised, cos I've got a Tefal steam generator (it was given to me by a neighbour, as she felt sorry for me using a normal iron when she saw how much ironing I had to do), and it works a treat. It's quite old, probably an original model but works very well and the tank lasts for at least an hour.

The only downside is that the clothes do get damp and I hang them over a clothes horse overnight before putting them away.
