Help! Have got a card for my husband but nothing else. The issue is it was his birthday during the week so got him a few things for that and didn’t really get round to thinking of a Father’s Day gift. Daughter is 2 so prob not going to dream up something decent by herself. On Sundays her and I go out early while he has a lie-in so we can head to a big supermarket or the shopping centre but I literally can’t think of anything to get him. Token gifts, but not tacky or overly sentimental ones, are fine, prob wouldn’t spend more than about £25. Any ideas very welcome! Any specific suggestions I could get from M&S, Sainsbury’s or next even better.

Don’t get him anything, of course. You can’t think of anything and your DD is only two. £25 is hardly token gift territory.

Breakfast in bed (nice pastries / good coffee)
chocolate
biscuits
sweet jar
alcohol if he drinks

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 21/06/2026 06:14

Breakfast in bed. Or take him out for coffee and cake later.

concertinacornflake · 21/06/2026 06:16

£25 is a high spend for Father's Day.
A bar of his favourite chocolate is enough, if you really think a card is not enough.

Not helpful but we just do handmade cards from the kids. No need to panic buy anything IMO.

Franjipanl8r · 21/06/2026 06:32

Oh actually… a handheld misting fan if he doesn’t have one and you live in the heat wave zone in the UK. He’ll appreciate that this week!

A book
Some nice wine/ beer
pick up some bits for breakfast together - pastry, nice bread and jams, juice etc
A plant
Photo frame and photo with dc (if you’ve any printed out?)
Tshirt/ socks - some clothing they might actually need for summer perhaps?
Any tech he might need - new earphones, portable speaker usually available at supermarkets

I think just apply the rule - what would you be happy with for Mother’s Day? You get what you give! A lie in, a pastry and a new book would be great for me so I am giving similar today 😆

Anxioustealady · 21/06/2026 07:10

Are you doing anything today like going out for lunch or a day out? If not you could make him a cake with your daughter or his favourite meal

roshi42 · 21/06/2026 07:14

Your big supermarket will have a display - or a card factory or similar type outlet in your town shopping centre. They’re all selling ‘Dad’ mugs, socks, chocolates etc

FruAashild · 21/06/2026 07:28

Chocolates, flowers, alcohol, home baking, handmade card. I always have blank cards in the house so the kids can do handmade cards. Mine are teens now and they still do handmade cards, nowadays they are considerably more skillful and it's nice to have the record of the changes in their ability over the years. At two a handprint will be sufficient decoration on a card.

It’s commercialised shit
a nice breakfast fresh bread fruit
and get her to do a picture

ThatBlueJumper · 21/06/2026 07:53

My children’s gift was some new clothes (needed anyway) and some fancy tea. Plus a homemade card.

Mumof1andacat · 21/06/2026 07:57

Breakfast in bed, with nice drink for later and a selection of favourite snacks to have with it like nuts, crisps or sweets

GetAbsOrDieTrying · 21/06/2026 09:00

Not sure if it is too late and you already bought something but M & S are doing hampers with beer, snacks and chocolate. I think it is £35. But you could always do your own.

AImportantMermaid · 21/06/2026 09:49

A few craft beers and a bag of posh salt and vinegar crisps usually goes down well here.

greenmacchiato · 22/06/2026 09:24

Granted, it's too late for the suggestions, but we just went with things we both wanted/needed for Fathers and Mothers days this year, so I got a perfume I wanted and he got a Photoglory subscription upgrade along with the local genealogy club membership. My go-to answer for days like that is to get something the person wants but probably wouldn't buy themselves.
