Best 3 Wheeler Buggy for the Larger Toddler?

DS about to grow out of his Vigour 3 Definitely not going to fit him this winter - he can barely move in it once he's got a winter coat on! So, I'm now looking for another 3 wheeler with a larger seat unit. Needs to be lightweight, swivel front wheel & (preferably) readily available secondhand! A forward/rear facing seat would be a bonus, but accept that this might not be possible.

Have been considering the mountain buggy urban but not sure if the seat will be big enough? I think I read it was a (maximum) of 38cm wide which doesn't look that big? Have also considered the Jane slalom pro as I know the old Powertrack 360 had a HUGE seat unit! Another one I've considered is the Urban Detour.... lots around 2nd hand for a good price, but seem to remember it's quite cumbersome?

So, what does everyone recommend, please ?

Hello,

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. We've spent weeks speaking to parents and testing out strollers and buggies. Read our buggy reviews for a list of the best lightweight strollers around.

Hope that helps!

I've had a jane powertrack 360 and now have a mb urban, no contest, mb hands down. My ds2 is 18 months and a chunkster, he's got years to go in it (but unfortunately have to buy a double as I'm pg with dt's). His brother, who is 4.6, still can fit in it with hood back. It's very very roomy, so easy to push and made to last. I found the jane just rubbish really, all looks but didn't do the job properly. It is a big seat but imo not v.comfortable. I have a sheepskin liner in the mb (to keep it clean!) and neither of the ds's has ever seemed uncomfortable. If you want something to last and do the job, strongly recommend mb, you will love it! Only downside it is heavy to lift into the car & takes up a lot of room but same with all 3 wheelers.

can't believe secondhand mb's cost £300 as I paid that new 18 months ago! Have you looked on here rather than ebay?

Get a MB - new or 2nd hand.

Everyone I've ever known with a Jane Powertrack/Slalom has had problems with steering/front wheel

Urban detour is huge. My 5 year old is comfortable in it.

I've had 2 powertracks with wobbley wheels and 2 Slaloms which have both been fine.

Have you seen the Nurse Dakar n ebay it's a similar seat to powertrack/Slalom but on offer fpr £160 delivered with loads of accessories. My friend's 3 year old was comfy in theirs and no front disk brake so no wobbly wheel.

Other one which may be good are the baby jogger city (has a high weight limit).

I do love my MB and they do hold there value. There is the odd one that os for £200 ish on ebay. I've seen a couple since I paid doublisg for mine.

s there nywher you can go see them and ply bfore you buy?

Thanks everyone. It looks like the MB wins then as my main issue with the Slalom Pro was whether they'd fixed the problems that the original Powertrack had (i.e. awkward access to the shopping basket, brake cable that got in the way of the handle bar, wobbly front wheel - my friend was pushing hers with her DD in it & the front wheel actually fell off ) whereas the MB looks like it's going to be the more solid, reliable (and comfier) option.

Moomin, I've replied to your email - thank you
