Clark shoes with toy inside

I bought my ds a pair of shoes in the clarks sale and realised when I got home that it's one of the styles with a toy inside.

Has anyone got anything bad to say about these type of shoes?

Thanks

Ds had these. The shoes were fine but he managed to break the toy car within the week

Enid · 20/06/2008 14:39

yes they are shit

the sole rucks up after a couple of week sbecause of the gap in the heel and then they are a PITA

BoysAreLikeDogs · 20/06/2008 14:40

Yes

Teachers hate them, the children fiddle with their shoes instead of listening, too busy finangling the toy out.

Can you 'lose' the toy before he realises ?

ds's have lasted brilliantly well (the shoe, that is, the toy broke quite quickly).

scotlass · 20/06/2008 14:40

and DD then used to check all shoes for a toy and proceed to be a PITA if there was no toy!

PrettyCandles · 20/06/2008 14:41

The boys' ones are fine, for the most part. It's the girls' ones that are a disaster - the toy is fiddly, bits get lost, it's tricky to put away. The insole of one of dd's shoes slipped sideways because of the gap where the toy is stored, but, OTOH, there have been no problems with her other shoes. One of ds's shoes had to be returned because there was a ledge inside it, but I think that was a one-off manufacturing flaw, as none of the other sheos had this problem.

It's a gimmick and a pain inthe bum, but not a big deal really. Some schools ban the toys.

stealthsquiggle · 20/06/2008 14:47

OK as shoes. The car is rubbish and the bits get lost.

The one time DS ended up with these (trainers, not school shoes, otherwise I would have taken them back) co-incidentally was the one time DH took him shoe shopping on his own.

Thanks everyone for your comments.

My ds is only 3.5yrs so not at school yet. He hasn't actually discovered the toy yet

I'm not sure whether or not to keep the the shoes as the heel bit looks quite high.

DD's are fine. The doll lives in her coat pocket for some reason

I was against them but they were the only ones that fit & now I've decided they're not that bad.

charliecat · 20/06/2008 19:31

dd has trainers that xp brought her, i dread to think how much they cost and on day 2 they looked shit.

Ledodgy · 20/06/2008 19:31

Yes they charge £6 more than usual for a pair of school shoes for a stupid bit of plastic.

tortoiseSHELL · 20/06/2008 19:32

Superglue the sole down, and then say 'oh look, you can see a little person/car in the heel'. Don't ever tell him that the toy comes out!

lucykate · 20/06/2008 19:35

dd has had a pair of these since september, tbh, we've found the shoes have lasted ok, same as normal clarks shoes, and they will have seen her through the whole of this school year, only replacing them in the summer as her feet have grown. only thing is, she did loose some of the bits from the toy.

Clarke's have alot to answer for. Just bought my 7yr old new shoes from another store but she's obviously been to school and someone has a pair of Clarke's shoes with toys underneath. She's come home after 4 days of wearing them and ripped out all the insole to see if she has a toy under hers... grrrr

llangennith · 04/10/2017 21:34

Shoes were fine. Toys annoying and unnecessary.
