Have seen the car we want and can afford: Y reg Zsara. Have got a Scenic now and have been v.happy with it but it's falling to bits. Have had no huge mechanical problems and has been reliable. FIL has been slagging off Citroens left right and centre but is reknowned for talking out of his backside. What's the opinion of people in the know?

Hi Moomin
I got my focus c-max from a Motability dealer just outside Kidd and it was a real bargain. Immaculate inside and out (Not quite like that now, ahem), about 3,500miles and we paid less than 10K. I know this is a lot more than you want to pay but its worth looking at the dealership to see if they have anythign more suitable.
Its Saville's in Mustow Green ( by Stone manor hotel).

It's slouchy here, BTW.

this thread has come at just the right time for me. We need a car that can take three car seats and this was top of our list. After reading this I'm more than convinced to get one and thanks for the tips on ex-motability cars

Hi Attila
Thanks for headsup on that garage. went this afty for a look round. It was closed but gave us chance to have a nosey without the hard-sell (until both dds decided they needed a wee and we had to take them round the back, no doubt this is all on their security cameras now )

All cars seem overprices compared to book prices but that's what you get at a garage I spose and like herbietea said, you'd need to be prepared to barter. Anyone know what the mark-up is and do dealers expect to be bartered down to book-price

One thing though - where have all the sunroofs gone? None of the new cars seem to have them. Hve I missed something? were they banned or something or are they like ponchos and just car-fashion faux pas nowadays?

Hiya - kidder is pretty much a toilet TBH, the dds had the right idea.
Sunroofs gone cos most cars have air con these days. And yes, you MUST barter. You want to ask for as much as you can extra as well - full service/MOT if applicable/6 mo tax - my dh always asks for new floor mats as well! Good luck x
