Anyone have either of these mops? Which one would be best for a dog owner?

We have had our dog now for three and a half weeks, and while he is gorgeous and on the whole a great addition to the family, he makes a hideous mess of the floor.

So, I am looking for a mop that will absorb wet and muddy footprints from the dog. I wet mop every day (laminate and tile throughout downstairs) but need something for when the dog comes in from outside, or has had a drink and covers the floors in water.

I don't want to keep getting out the normal mop and bucket because I'll spend most of the day waiting for the floor to dry as he is in and out so often. I was looking at these two:

  1. www.lakeland.co.uk/product.aspx/!21400 or
  1. www.lakeland.co.uk/product.aspx/!20086

Or, does anyone have any better ideas? Learning to live with the mess isn't an option It would drive me even more mad.

We have a Flash Power Mop. It's so easy, no buckets of water or anything, you just press the handle to squirt a bit of stuff, then whoosh it, then done. Easy! It's no good for heavy duty in-grained stuff, but for a quick whoosh for footprints it would do the trick. Not sure about mopping up spilled water though - I'd probably use kitchen roll for that.

We use the vileda sponge mop. The floor cleans up really well and dries in no time. We use it on wooden floors too. Best one I've found after years of looking.

I had a tescos cheap version of those ones with the flat 360 swivel heads - hated it cos the head kept swivelling round sideways to the way I wanted to go, or flipping over. Having watched hospital cleaners with them, I think I didn't get the technique right. But I don't want a mop that needs a technique! Plus I didn't like having to take the microfibre cloth off and clean it.

I now have a Vileda one, and its good. (I have a laminate floor and 3 small messy children but no dog). You still need water - I just fill the sink though. But you put minimal water on the floor so it dries quickly.

i'd also recommend a vileda sponge mop, the whole of our downstairs is wooden floors so is mopped frequently. it's fab, floors dry really quicky, plus a new mop head is relatively cheap, about £3.
