DS2 got £200 for his birthday ... what do you think??

Had my heart set on a big wooden thing but just haven't got another £200 to get anything decent

But what do you think of that?

i think it's a bit of a waste of £200.
but then I am a bit funny about spending the children's money. pop it in his bank account and wait.
you might find something nicer in the sales?

Disenchanted · 16/06/2008 22:44

Ive been trying to get something for about 2 months and am worried summer is going to run out!

I need it because my SPD is kicking in and I wont be able to walk the kids to the park soon so need something in the garden to occupy them!

Is ok if you want to spend it all. Maybe get something cheaper off ebay and put 100 quid in his bank?

thisisyesterday · 16/06/2008 22:49

well, reading the description it isn't much mnore than a big slide really....
have a look on ebay, I got a big slide for 99p last year for ds (assuming you can collect one) which was great.

other than that, mine loves to play with the baby bath full of water and some bath toys outside. much more fun than the slide

jajoom · 17/06/2008 09:46

Seems expensive for what it is. The slide is very small and your kids will outgrow it quickly.
I would buy seperate pieces, maybe a swing and decent size slide?
Or how about the TP Explorer systems? They're made of steel and are very strong. You can use the climbing frame at toddler hieght, then extend to full height when they're older. There's tons of extras you can add like monkey bridges etc. They last until 14 years so would be a good investment.
ELC have the explorer climbing frame, crazywavy slide and den, and with the discount code PARTY (20% off) you get it all for 208 pounds including delivery.

We got TP ecplorer with platform and 20% off for around £120. We've got it at half height at the moment for 3 year old. We can then gradually add bits to it and increase the height.

The other thing is because you can see through it it doesn't look too bad in the garden.

morningpaper · 17/06/2008 13:37

this?

SoupKitchen · 17/06/2008 13:38

We have the tp challenger which is great for our 2.3 and 3 and half year olds. We have it at full height ( they are like spider monkeys) and it has been fantastic.
I know it is more money than you have but could you add a bit in or buy second hand.

TBH the one you have linked to I think would be too small for a 4 .5 year old and it sems a lot of money to fork out for just one years use.

morningpaper · 17/06/2008 13:38

or this?

Cezzy · 17/06/2008 13:44

WE have a TP explorer with a slide and a tent style den on top which our girls love. They are 5 and 7 and it is still big enough for them. Even their aunt who is 46 goes on it and hasn't broken it. We also picked up a swing set for £50 from the local DIY shop with 2 single swings and a double swing which they love. I would thoroughly recommend these. We got the money for the TP from selling the girls outside toys that they had outgrown. Also look out for a Freecycle site. These are set up as local sites and people get rid of things they no longer want for free. You can get some good items if you are patient.

Zazette · 17/06/2008 13:55

Loads and loads of tp climbing frames on ebay, have a look. The one you linked to is only suitable for small toddlers - there is one similar at my dd's nursery, and she isn't really interested any more (she's 4).

Ledodgy · 17/06/2008 14:02

this looks good

Ledodgy · 17/06/2008 14:09

or this for £206.21

Ledodgy · 17/06/2008 14:10

Hmm actually my last link is a bit strange as it says it doesn't include timber.

SheherazadetheGoat · 17/06/2008 14:11

go for tp or else in 3 years time you will be looking at a lump of faded plastic in your garden wondering why you spent £200 on it.

tassisssss · 17/06/2008 14:13

i'd go for TP

i've been threatening to for the past 3 years!

kbaby · 18/06/2008 14:26

another vote for TP. My dd who is 4 and ds 22 months go on it at full height and love it.
