cream for stretch marks & did it work???

Into my second pregnancy and getting itchy tummy already (14 weeks). I think due to more stretching of current stretch marks.

What have you used for stretch marks and did they work???

Body Shop Body Butter - can't say it for definite but I put went from 8 stone to 12 stone and didn't get a single stretchmark. I used it twice a day.

I know you don't want to hear this Blossom but I tried a load of different kinds of slime in attractive tubes and pots and it made NO DIFFERENCE to the stretchmarks (except they were not so tight or itchy)

I used palmers cocoa butter - I think it mentions stretch marks on the bottle. Still got some though, but did keep forgetting to use it.

I am afraid to say that if you are going to get stretch marks you are going to get stretch marks, nothing will prevent them as it's all to do with your genetic make-up. Sorry! I am 37weeks and have marks on top of marks, it's too depressing. My stomach looked like tripe after dd.
However this does not stop me smearing myself in Clarins to make me feel a bit better.

rosehip oil. no idea if it really, really works. i used it after having dd and whilst using it constantly, the scars appear less visible. i had some on my stomach and 3 years down the line they have completely dissapeared. whether it's down to the multitude of creams and oils i have tested or purely to getting back my flat stomach, i cannot say. but out of all of the products, the rosehip oil made the best impression on me. i also got quite a few on my chest, most of them have faded, the ones that are left look better (in a sort of way) when i do use this oil.
i don't think there is a magic answer here. from what i understand, some corrective laser surgery is succesfull only when used on fresh scars, but costly i would imagine and there is no guarantee.
aloha knows more about this sort of things, maybe she can advise.

Where can i get Rosehip Oil? i've never heard of it.

here is where I got mine from.
I also used to use pure vit E oil bought from the local chemist. it comes in a bottle and is very rich and sticky.
There was a thread on this subject during the sumer 04 sometime but I couldn't find it. I think it was under Products or Other subjects but I cannot see it anywhere.

Somebody told me to eat oily fish. So I ate salmon once a week from 15 weeks and not a stretch mark to be seen!

(did have an elective CS at 39 weeks so maybe I didn't give them a chance to form?)

I'm afraid that if you are programed to have them, there's no way around it.
However,moistutizing seems to have worked for me.
I got stretch marks on hips and that's where I was NOT applying cream regularly. Nothing at all on belly/breasts.
I think any thick moisturizer will do as long as you apply twice a day on breasts/belly/hips/thighs
Favourites: Body shop shea butter, Clarins Huile tonic, and Bio Oil from chemists.

boots have a camomile moisturising gel that has 'good for preventing stretch marks' on the bottle (its yellow, in the boots own make natural collection)

i used it religiously through 2 pregnancies and dont have a single stretch mark. i was so proud of myself and thought it was cos of all my hard work then my mum told it was hereditary and she didnt have a single one either, so i had her to thank!

blossom, if you have bad itching mention it to your midwife, she might want to check your bloods cos it can be a sign of other things (although you prob know that )

I used the Body Shop Shea Butter cream on my tummy and didn't get any stretchmarks there but got loads on my thighs and a few on my boobs. Will be bathing in the stuff next time! Whatever you use be sure to cover all areas just in case it really does work.

Have agree. I'm afraid it's heredity. However, all of that stretching can make you a bit dry and itchy. So the creams may help there. And, I suppose that keeping the skin moisturised may HELP reduce them a bit. But, I certainly wouldn't expect them to be totally prevented.

And just to add a sidenote - after breastfeeding I used Clarins Bust Gel and it worked wonders. Really improved the quality of my skin and seemed to tighten and plump things up. They're never going to be the same but it helped.
