Aldi/Lidl - what to get, what to leave

Hi,
Can anyone give me some advice on whats good to buy/not good to buy in Aldi/Lidl. With rising food bills we have to look to cutting costs and I've heard generally about the above two shops being good value I'm sure some products are better than others.

thanks.

So from the sounds of it Lidl is the main place to go with some additions from Aldi - do the majority think thats right?

I prefer Aldi and can get more eg bread(don't like Lidl bread) but still have gaps eg don't like the yogs. However I find I can get nearly the whole shop there. To be honest I find the best thing is to alternate it week by week and do a Asda stock up once a month on the things you can't get at either like Ecover.

I do the most part of my shop at Aldi.
We don't have Lidl but Aldi is fine (i am food snob as well) and yes without your oven i'm not suprised your shop is a little on the expensive side

MilaMae - do you keep your eggs in the fridge?

MilaMae · 29/06/2008 14:28

Yes always, had a nasty experience with a pack of Lidl's free range eggs. They were all in date but off, 4 of them out of 6-ooooh the smell!!!!!!!!

Just can't pluck up the courage to buy them again
