Can anyone recommend a good oven cleaner as mine is smoking like mad when i use it.I would pay any amount literally for it to stop as our eyes are streaming as I cook!

You'll find other threads on this but Lakeland Oven Mate is unbeatable. Even really burnt on for years black stuff comes off just by wiping. Marvellous.

Another vote for Oven Mate, they sell it in Costco too. It's the best I've used.

I use something called Oven Pride, get it from Tesco. You leave it overnight and there's a big placcy bag that you put the shelves in. It is magic, you literally just wipe it off, even the really burnt-on bits on the shelves, and the oven looks like new. It's nasty caustic stuff though, have burnt my arm with it when not being careful enough so really take care with it.

I used a company who came round and cleaned my Oven beautifully in about an hour. 0800 0528877. It looked like new when they'd finished. I'm planning to use them again shortly.

OvenClean cost £35 for a single oven (and yes, it looked like new when it was done ... I was stunned) plus £3 for a new bulb. They repaired all the rubber seal for free.

Our oven was a real state and I was in shock for days at how new it looked. Fully intend using them again only next time I'm getting them to clean the microwave, the extractor fan (and change those yucky filters), the hob....

I have heard that you can also use biological washing powder to clean the oven racks. (Don't know how you would do the inside of the oven though?)

I used the bio powder on my racks, it was pretty good, still needed to scrub but not bad.

The biggest success was DH's Puly coffee machine cleaner which I tried on the metal filters on the extractor fan it worked a treat.

biological washing powder works a treat on oven shelves, and on any dish with burnt on food. I learnt this from dh, who was very pleased his "scientific knowledge" was being put to good use!

Apparently it's something to do with the enzyme action (ooh errr Missus!)

I use Oven Mate for the oven, It is fantastic. just did mine yesterday actually.
