New mattress - simba or vispring?

Any thoughts on whether to get a Simba https://simbasleep.com/products/simba-hybrid-ultra-mattress?_pos=1&_fid=e17559442&_ss=c&variant=44205964722350
or a Vispring mattress? Have lower back issues so need a good mattress and happy to spend approx 2k. We currently have a vispring which isn't giving me enough support (have had it for 20 years and not turned it regularly unfortunately) and have read great things about the Simba which is a hybrid mattress but the problem is that you can't try it in a shop before purchasing it. The reviews look amazing online but just not sure as I haven't tried it. Any advice or personal experience would be great :)

Vispring

I know it's a lot more traditional and hasn't got any synthetic materials but I wonder if it's as good for back issues?

I’m not sure

Visipring mattresses are amazing. I have never tried a Simba.

We bought a Superking Simba Ultra and sent it back after the minimum amount of trial days and got a refund.

It was described as medium-firm but actually I found it really hard with virtually no give in it (this might possibly suit your bad back, but the Ultra made mine worse). I also felt that, as it's almost £3K to buy, it wasn't that great in terms of quality. If you decide to go ahead with a sleep trial, please be aware that the mattress is extremely heavy (69kg for the superking) and quite bulky to manoeuvre as it doesn't have a lot of give in it. Ours actually got stuck on the stairs on delivery, and it took the two couriers plus me and my DH to get it up and on the bed! It's worth bearing the weight in mind, as you have to rotate it every month which is quite an effort.

You might love it but I hated it and couldn't wait to return it.

We are in the same position as you OP ie have a vispring that needs replacing as we didn’t turn it enough (although they are so difficult to turn as so heavy). I am only looking at vispring but finding it difficult to make a decision as they are so expensive! I would only get a different one if I could try and return like the pp.

I replaced my 15 year old Tempur mattress with a Simba Luxe about a year ago.
Like you I had lower back issues and I'd wake up every morning stiff as a board and aching like I'd been run over by a tank in my sleep.
Now, the back pain is pretty much a thing of the past, and I sleep like a log.

I do religiously turn the mattress over once a month, although the guideline is once every 6 months after the first three, I believe.

They also threw in 2 pillows, a mattress protector and a duvet, as well as a 12-month interest free payment option.

Overall, I am very happy with it.

We got the Simba one above in November - I love it! It’s quite firm but really happy. We have the duvet too - it’s so heavy

@1apenny2apenny Glad it's not just me then! It has lasted 20 years so still pretty good. Thinking if I get a new wispring and actually look after it, it will come with 30 year guarantee. I tried the Chiswick and quite liked it.
I do really like the idea of the Simba or Emma though and the reviews are amazing but does it last as long and is it too firm for someone quite petite (John Lewis said I should go with a soft mattress although prefer a medium)? @LlamaDuke that is also my concern - can't be bothered having to send something back. I just want a nice mattress and wish this wasn't so complicated. What did you get instead and are you happy with it?

Great to hear your back is better. I'm hoping the same will happen to me with a good mattress. I thought you couldn't/were not supposed to turn the Simba - but maybe it depends on the type?

@Fabfabfab

I found the Simba to be firm rather than a medium-firm as advertised.

In the end, I went for a medium tension Talalay latex mattress, which is much more comfortable than the Ultra.
