50th birthday gifts, I never knew I needed!

I'm turning 50 in a few weeks. My husband and I had always planned to go on a cruise to celebrate this, as we also celebrated our 25 wedding anniversary at the end of last year. Unfortunately, this now cant happen. BUT, everyone is always asking what I'd like as a gift, saying I need to have a party etc! I don't want or need anything and I certainly don't want a party! So, my question is, does anyone have any ideas on what gifts I never knew i needed in my life? My parents want to buy me a nice piece of jewellery, but i just haven't seen anything that's shouting out to me! Hit me with some suggestions please.

A bit niche but very different- a taxidermy lesson? This one is in London, but I'm sure there would be some more local. 😆

I know this thread is quite old, but also a 76 baby and 50th Birthday coming up this year.

I plan to go on a bee keeping day and have a Japanese head spa. Other than that, struggling for ideas.
One of my oldest friends keeps asking me what I would like and I'm a bit hurt. I bought her something I knew she would love for her 50th a few years ago, and she wears it regularly. It just feels a bit like she can't be bothered to return the effort / sentiment.

I turned 50 at the beginning of this month and my DSDs bought me a stacking jewellery box. You could ask for individual layers to it from different friends to make a multi layered box.

I got a bramwell brown clock from my parents and my husband bought me a piece of original art work by an artist I collect

It’s an old thread but recently revived by a PP, and perennially useful a subject so I will add to it.

I didn’t want a party but I did want to celebrate, so my husband arranged a series of lunches for me at various restaurants with various groups of friends - uni friends, work friends, book club friends etc. All in it was about fifty people, but in very manageable small groups so we could properly chat and reminisce. Loved that, and the fact it meant my birthday rumbled on for weeks and not just one day.

For my actual birthday I had my hair, make up and nails done in the morning just like a wedding, and then we had a romantic lunch at a Michelin restaurant. DH gave me a gold necklace with symbolic pendants that I could (and now do) wear every day. We then had an afternoon tea with the children which they loved.

My favourite presents were things people had made me that showed they really knew me. Best friend embroidered me a cushion in a fabric she knew would look amazing in my bedroom, other friends gave me potted roses for my garden which is a constant work in progress, and lots of framed photos from our heyday at school and uni. One friend gave me a tourist poster of our hometown which I thought was repro and in fact turned out to be a vintage original, a lovely surprise but probably an unnecessary expense as I was absolutely delighted with it anyway.

I loved turning fifty - without a doubt my favourite birthday ever. The key is to communicate your wishes very clearly to your spouse and your besties for several months beforehand.

Husband bought me concert tickets to a big 80’s band that I used to love but had not listened to in years. He bought ticket right near the front of the seated section and I absolutely loved it.
