Looking for a strong, durable A4 box file for storing important papers/documents

Hi all,
I am looking to buy an A4 box file that is good quality and will last a long time. I normally buy something like this, but it often falls apart.

Are there any better options out there that I am missing?

Important papers like passports, birth certs marriage certs divorce papers, insurance documents or paperwork that you could not be without in the event of a calamity, I wouldn’t be looking for a box file, but rather a fireproof box.

once I had tat, I’d place everything in there that I felt need to be protected, and put a couple of silica bags in too, to stop any damp damage.

I really hope this helps.

if possible, and if you need it, try to find a fireproof box that has keys.

if you want the box to also hold anything valuable, I would try to find a way to secure it in the event of (even if you think it’s unlikely) a burglary.
Eg screw base of box into say the bottom of a wardrobe or floorboards etc.
Precious papers can’t alway be replaced, and those that can might probably be costly to replace.

Good advice above. However if you just want an extremely sturdy box then look at 'Really Useful Boxes' which are plastic boxes with a a clip lid. They're the most durable plastic boxes on the market. I use them for everything and they come in different sizes.

Hi,

Thanks! I have never considered a fireproof box, but that makes sense now. Do you have any recommendations of good quality fireproof boxes or what shop sells them?

I am not married and I am 30 years old so I don't have that many important documents as my mum would for example, but I do have things like my passport, GCSE/A-Level certificates that are valuable..

Hi,

Please, where do you buy them from?

We got our Really Useful box with files from Rymans secure and strong. Fits quite a lot.

No I’m so sorry not to be able to recommend, as I was fortunate enough to get mine in a charity shop, it’s amazing what you can find in there, and at bargain prices which benefit both the buyer and the charity.
if however you have no access to those, or you want a fireproof box sooner than waiting for a bargain, you could try eBay?
Hope you find your ideal solution.
