I hate to burst your bubble but it doesn't give you a cup of tea instantly. it gives you hot water.

There was a thing in Costco that heated water in about 30 seconds...less than £50 - will try & remember what it was called

fryalot · 10/06/2008 16:46

I want one of them too.

Dp won't let me.

gizmo · 10/06/2008 16:47

Gotta tell you, lulumama, if they're anything like the instant hot water thingummy we have here at work, the tea will be total shitorama.

Water's hot but not boiling.

Whizzz · 10/06/2008 16:48

there is a stand-alone tefal one but BEWARE - they were invented for the american market and what do the americans know about making tea? americans think you make tea by putting water that was hottish when they put it in a jug 5 mins ago on a teabag with a bit of string attached. Ha!

Check the heat of the water that comes out before you buy. The tefal one does not give you boiling water. although it might today if you put it in the sun for a bit.

gizmo · 10/06/2008 16:55

Yup. That's it. Tefal squats in corner of our work kitchen and makes (slowly) cup of foul brown water.

Kettle = quicker + better tea.

lulumama · 10/06/2008 17:03

i know what you mean about american tea

i don;t want the quick cup thing, or the kettle.,but a tap that gives you boiling ish water, see the link below. sick of the amount of work top space the bloody kettle takes up

just got rid of the toaster too!

Hmmm, I see it, but 98 degrees ain't boiling, is it?

(Did I tell you about my doctorate in advanced tea making?)

JaneHH · 10/06/2008 17:11

What about the electricity bill, does this magic tap sit and heat water to slightly-less-than-boiling-point all day long? In which case I would stick to the kettle...

lulumama · 10/06/2008 17:38

ah, that is why i say boiling ish !

good point, jane, don;t know about that.. will have to find out
