Hey everyone.

I want to start taking better care of my appearance but, I am not a millionaire as I have 2 kids and struggle most months to make ends meet.
I've struggled with depression and feeling good about myself for a while but I'd like to not feel so neglected and down about my appearance. So, my question to you is, can anyone give me some tips on nice christmassy makeup/clothes (In plus size) and self care that doesn't break the bank please?

I just want to feel human and attractive again. Not a run down mess!

Boots do 3 for 2s at this time of year so you could make use of that offer to build your make up. With there being lots of gifts, there will be palettes too to give you some choice. I actually picked up a “book” the other week that Ill use when I travel and it has “pages” of small palettes and will basically do you whole face. Maybe something like that would be useful? I’ll try and find the link

MAC is my favourite but to be honest, a lot of the stuff in Boots is good too and doesn’t break the bank. I’m a firm believer that it’s mainly in the tools and techniques.

Boots 7 brand is good and they carry even cheaper ranges that are fine too. Have a look around a larger branch. They will help you at the 7 counter too

Estée Lauder and benefit, maybe others too, offer free foundation samples at their counters and even free make-overs if you ask

Here is the link to that “book”
One thing I will say is get properly matched for foundation shade…..it will save you in the long run. And before you buy, consider your colouring….look at whether you are a warm, neutral or cool tone, look into what colours suit your tone. Also consider what colours compliment your eyes / make them pop before buying eyeshadow.

Elf has a mascara with a green lid that is about £7 and very very close to the £35ish one from Hourglass that I also have. Brilliant tubing mascara, does not smudge ever but then washes off with warm water.

TK Maxx for well regarded brands at low prices, or Superdrug does some very low priced makeup. It doesn’t need to be expensive to work - Rimmel ,for example, has been successful for decades. If you are on a budget, recommendations for Estée Lauder and MAC are not going to work for you.
As for clothes, it depends how plus size you are and what you need. For example M &S jeans are good and I think go up to a 24, for under £30 last time I looked. Simply Be and Yours and Boohoo will have plus sizes at budget prices, although you need to read the fabric descriptions carefully. H&M also has larger sizes online and are quite fashion forward.
