I have a little boy who is going spare as we speak because I won't detach the Winnie the Pooh soft toy from his old baby mobile. Please help!

This is his mobilehere

I'd be very glad to hear from anyone who knows where I can find a similar little toy that isn't attached to a mobile I want to keep!

chop it off

nell12 · 09/06/2008 22:29

Can't you detatch it for DS and then look around for a replacement to put on the mobile??

OR

Detatch it a little way up the ribbon and then put velcro on each end of the ribbon so that it can be re-attached later on

As suggested take it off temporarily to appease him now and then: Try The Disney store, either in person or on line. They have a huge range of Pooh bears, both furry and material,or take him with you on a "Bear Hunt",He'll know which one he likes or that is most similar.I bought DD1 one that is very similar from there but about 10 inches long, easier to cuddle.Good Luck!

lackaDAISYcal · 09/06/2008 22:39

try here

Twinklemegan · 09/06/2008 22:39

I'm not chopping it off because the mobile is really special to me. The tune it plays brings back just about the only happy memories I have of our first few weeks.

It's held on by string unfortunately that's sewn into the toy and the mobile above - no obvious way of detaching it without permanent damage.

Mmm - the beanie's not quite the same, but thanks. It's bugging me, you see, because the Disney website clearly shows a gift of a small Pooh with a balloon - it looks identical to the one on the mobile. But you can't buy it on there and I can't find anything like it anywhere else.

how old is he?
seriously, chop it off, give it to him and buy a new mobile

TrinityRhino · 09/06/2008 22:41

it wont stop it playing the tune if you chop it off

'the only hapy memories' shit that doesn't sound good

how old is he? and why is he still awake?

fishie · 09/06/2008 22:43

you could sew it back on easily if on a cord. who is this for though, you or him?

Sawyer64 · 09/06/2008 22:47

Theres the one I think is almost the same on the 2nd page for £10. But it is much bigger.HTH

Twinklemegan · 09/06/2008 22:58

It's not shit TR, but it's not related to why he's still awake (which he's not now, by the way) . He's 22 months, he's overtired and he's been having a mahooosive tantrum. But I know he really likes the little Pooh toy on the mobile, but the mobile was a gift and no I am still not going to cut it up! I'm sure there must be something out there that fits the bill.

Sawyer - yes I've just seen that one. I might go for that one if I can't find the one with the balloon - as you say it's easier to cuddle. I first tried finding that damned bear for a Christmas stocking filler!

Maybe the manufacturers of the Mobile make all their Pooh Bears similar, might have one without the Mobile attached, but with balloon?? just a thought.

Disenchanted · 09/06/2008 23:08

here???

TBH at 22 months I don't think he would be that attentive to detail. Im sure a small variation would pass him by!

nelliesmum · 09/06/2008 23:11

Was it a gift for him or for you, surely its his mobile...not yours! You do seem to be making a bit of a meal of this, its only a toy.

Twinklemegan · 09/06/2008 23:17

Oh I do apologise. I just thought someone might have seen one. Forget I mentioned it.

OP posts:
Twinklemegan · 09/06/2008 23:23

Sorry, that was a bit harsh. But I have particular reasons for being attached to that mobile and I don't see why that's so odd. In our house there aren't many toys, and those that there are are well looked after. I don't recognise the attitude "it's only a toy". There may not be another baby, but if there is then I want to pass on the mobile. Weird innit?

Twinklemegan · 09/06/2008 23:28

I've found where I saw it.here. The bear with the balloon - I'm not going mad! I will keep looking, but thanks for all the helpful suggestions!

OP posts:
TrinityRhino · 10/06/2008 22:04

so what did you do in the end

Twinklemegan · 10/06/2008 22:25

Nowt - I never intended to do anything there and then. Tantrums will get him nowhere. I'm still holding out to find that blardy bear in the photo - I'm like a dog with a bone me.

OP posts:
bubblerock · 10/06/2008 22:35

This has a balloon.

Twinklemegan · 10/06/2008 22:40

Thanks bubblerock - that's the best one yet. (I know you all think I'm mad btw.) I might well go for that one. But when I get outbid, what I might actually do is buy another mobile off Ebay and cut the bear off that. (I don't actually have a moral objection to separating bears from mobiles).

OP posts:
bubblerock · 10/06/2008 22:54

Don't you just want to buy this one and release him!! Surely that's cruelty to bears
