Where can I buy blackout blinds that velcro to the window frame?

We already have blackout curtain lining but a lot of light comes in round the edges of the curtains. Is it possible to get blackout lining that comes with adhesive velcro so that you can velcro it right onto the window frame and get the tightest possible fit?
Thanks!

get the material, cut it to size then attach velcro.
glue the other side of teh velcro to the window and voila

I got the material in John Lewis and some velcro that was self-adhesive on one side. The velcro wasn't very good and if I did it again I would just glue ordinary velcro to the window frame. I leave the velcro up all year round and just attach the material in summer.

if you dont want to glue on frame then you can staple it

fluffyanimal · 09/06/2008 12:38

Thanks for suggestions so far. Zippi, not sure I could staple into uPVC?

OK next question - did they really block out the light well, and did it make a difference to the child's sleep?

no probably not

not sure glue would be a good idea either

Mamazon · 09/06/2008 12:43

i had to do it for Ds as we were really struggling with his sleeping ( itried anything and everything)
he has sleep problems anyway but once he was asleep i found they helped to keep him asleep ...and he slept in longer in the mornings

gingeme · 09/06/2008 12:44

No
We have black out blinds and have attached velcro in a similur way but the little buggers blighters still wake at 6 am

Nappyzoneneedsanewname · 09/06/2008 12:49

ba ba blackout do em.......

cremolafoam · 09/06/2008 12:51

roller blackout blinds at ikea.they can be attached to the wall above the window and so flush with the window or frame. i also have upvc and have them attached to the ceiling bit

cremolafoam · 09/06/2008 12:53

ere

I have a roller blackout blind and blackout curtain linings too but they don't do the job because my bedroom is east facing. Since I've used the material and the velcro no light comes in at all. Made a great deal of difference to my sleep!

My DCs only have blackout linings but it isn't such a problem for them because their windows face the other way and they don't get the morning light.

OverMyDeadBody · 09/06/2008 13:01

I did what yeni did, and it makes a difference, or at least in my bedroom it does

It has helped DS fall asleep in the summer when he'd otherwise still want to be up playing, but he wakes at the same time regardless.

fluffyanimal · 09/06/2008 13:28

gingeme, you are complaining about 6am? I would LOVE to lie in until 6am!

we have sticky velco - stick to blind and to wall, no need for sewing.

Kbear · 10/06/2008 14:28

I am blacking out DS's window today - he was awake until almost 10pm last night because it was light and he said he couldn't sleep.

I bought extra tension rods for the windows, made a curtain out of the material (stapled a hem - such a professional!!) and voila!!

fairibell · 10/06/2008 15:02

where did you get your rods from?
thanks

Kbear · 10/06/2008 18:26

curtain shop in town. John lewis sell them too

noddyholder · 10/06/2008 18:28

you can get self adhesive velcro

SquiffyHock · 10/06/2008 18:29

These ones have sucky cups that attach them to the window - brilliant for travelling baabaa blinds
