Pans that last

I’m after a new set of pans that will last for many years. I cook nearly every day from scratch so need a variety of sizes. I’ve had nonstick ones in the past but the nonstick lining has deteriorated, accelerated by my teen DD cooking at high temperatures on the big burners on my gas hob while cooking using far too small pans. I have up to £200 to spend, what does Mumsnet recommend?

Bumping, as also interested.

I have the ninja ones expensive but used every day and brilliant

IlovetoKnitandRead · 24/11/2025 08:05

I have stainless steel ones from Lakeland. They have very heavy bases and wash up brilliantly even if you burn something in them (such as rice pudding last night!). I have had them for about five years now and they look like new.

I started the same thread once and overwhelming recommendations for stainless steel set from John Lewis. They’re great, sturdy, dishwasher safe. Frying pan is non stick which I don’t like but it works well and has lasted well so far.

I spent over £250 on the smallest of the Hestan Nanobond pans because DH really wanted it. It is a decent pan and doesn’t get that black peeling nonstick like cheap pans. But if I use it for scrambled egg it needs a lot of scrubbing afterwards.

Thanks for the stainless steel recommendations - will definitely look at those.
After listening to the latest sobering Zoe podcast about the dangers of microplastics, I’m chucking all my non-stick pans out.

We've got a few Stellar stainless steel saucepans which have a lifetime guarantee. I've had one of them 10 years and it's still going strong. I need to replace our non-induction compatible saucepans soon and will get more Stellar without hesitation.

WingBingo · 24/11/2025 13:42

Definitely stainless steel. I was recommended JL on here. Had them 10 years now and still good as new.

Perhaps I have been lucky, but these have lasted me 20 years.

I have the le creuset stainless steel ones that have lasted really well and a Stellar sauté pan

Ifailed · 24/11/2025 13:52

I've had some hexclad pans for a few years and they are as good as new.

Mix56 · 24/11/2025 13:54

I have Hexclad, hybrid pans, had a year now & very happy, frying pans can go in oven which is great.
They are heavy however.

Laiste · 24/11/2025 13:57

I've been collecting the GoCook range from Tesco.

I use them everyday and they get a bashing! They're lasting well so far 🤞

Stellar stainless steel saucepans - 7000 series with draining lids. Bit heavy but will last a lifetime, and happy to be abused and thrown in the dishwasher. That and a cast iron lodge frying pan (lives on the hob, just rinse with water and a brush after use and develops effectively non stick surface). These do nearly all we need.

Now I'm looking for some NOT non-stick baking sheets that I can throw in the dishwasher so not aluminium either. Anyone got ideas on those?

I have a cheap set of stainless steel pans from Argos nearly 30 years ago. They are indestructible and look pretty much identical to when I bought them. no restrictions on utensils though also not non stick anything that does get burned on will definitely soak off.

PocketSand · 24/11/2025 14:58

Stellar stainless steel - used every day for the last 35 years and will outlive me!

BeagleHound1 · 24/11/2025 15:08

I think I’m going with Stellar though now need to decide on what to pick! Thanks everyone
