Anyone any sure fire ways of cleaning mould off of an inflatable water slide?

We bought a slide from eBay, supposedly brand new, but it wasn't, have been through PayPal to get our money back, they say we can have a refund if we return the slide (t'is heavy so £15 plus for carriage, that we have to pay) once we have sent proof of postage, they will try and issue a refund from the sellers account, if she has any funds in it, which I am sure she won't have!

So anyway, this slide is really smelly, and has some mould on it, we've tried good old sponge and washing up liquid, hasn't touched it, is there a good way of getting it off?

We refuse to spend more money sending it back, and not get a refund even for what we have paid so far, but then we may as well try and clean it up, either so we can use it or sell it on again.

Poor DS1 is heart broken over this, he saved up for ages to get it, bet he wishes he hadn't bloody bothered now!

How horrible for your DS NJ.

What about vinegar? Seems to remove most things.

Only got bog standard brown vinegar, do you reckon it would work?

what about Milton sterlising fluid or Vanish/Ace bleach? maybe even thin bleach. You could try the brown vinegar but most cleaning things say to usewhite vinegar. Dunno if there's a difference. Poor ds.

Worth a try I suppose?

NatalieJaneIsPregnant · 08/06/2008 15:32

Just tried the brown vingar and a nail brush, it is shining now (well a little patch of it is!) but the mould is still there, I've got some Vanish, and some thin bleach, will try both thanks

Great! Hope it works.

I have just washed all bath toys with black mould in sterilising fluid ( 4 tablets to the suggested 1). I did soak them in there for about 3 hrs and then gave them a gentle scrub. I also had the bottom of the shower curtain in there as well and now I have a nice obvious clean mark a bit like a jif advert so I now have to take the whole thing down.
Bit hard getting a slide in a bucket of water but I would give it a go.

you need something like this

NatalieJaneIsPregnant · 08/06/2008 16:16

Tried all of it now except the sterilising fluid and the link Iota gave, nothing has shifted it.

Give up, for today! Thanks though everyone
