Product recall

Has anyone ever bought a product that has subsequently been recalled due to safety issues?

Seeing a warning on the M and S website for a recall of a baby sleeping bag (for strangulation risk!!) has got me thinking… I’ve seen many before, but have never actually seen that a product I’ve bought has been recalled.

If you have - what product, and what was the result of you taking it back?

My car was recalled. I can't remember what it was for but I had to take it to a main dealer to get it fixed.

I had a couple of things recalled through Amazon. One a baby toy that was a choking risk. The other a usb plug - that was a faff as you had to send the old one in for a refund.

we had a pram recall and they offered taking away to fix, but then that leaves you with no pram! They did in the end give us a new one.

my two year old has a couple of M&S sleeping bags, so I’ll take a look. She’s probably old enough for it to not be an issue though.

I listened to a podcast about product recalls just the other day - it covered the range of reasons things get recalled and how it is managed across the supply chain. Interesting if you like that kind of ‘how things work’ content.

The podcast is called the Economics of Everyday Things, it’s full of this kind of thing.

Thank you. It’s not the same one.
