Want to browse for DD's first birthday. Like woodeny type things, maybe a farm or something. Any pointers welcome!

BigJigs do fab wooden toys, lots of food you can 'cut' like pizza, veg, cakes, sandwiches. My mum bought my 3 some each for Xmas and the 1yo adores it.

alittleteapot · 05/06/2008 23:11

Ooh, loving the cooked breakfast set!

Buzz and Matilda here has small and very affordably priced wooden toys, and great service.

Olihan · 06/06/2008 08:01

Letterbox do a lovely wooden farm which I think is probably a Pintoy one. It's not cheap though. They do lots of nice wooden stuff if you don't mind spending £50 or so.

I know it's fantastic, have bought loads from there for parties etc and have never been disappointed!

PinkPussyCat · 06/06/2008 08:34

Olihan Just looking at the BigJigs site and the stuff is FAB but seems to be for trade customers only! Do you know which of the stockists your Mum used?

MrsBadger · 06/06/2008 08:49

no Lapin, and do not tempt me

I do send the catalogue to MIL before birthdays and Christmas though, so hope springs eternal...

BabaYaga · 06/06/2008 09:29

Wow, that castle is amazing... who needs a husband when you could have that?!

NoNickname · 06/06/2008 09:30

www.limiteds.com/

ELR · 06/06/2008 09:33

tk max do loads of wooden toys that are quite good and cost half the price of john lewis ect
Beware though, that us parents love wooden toys some kids dont they love the cheap gaudy plastic stuff!!

TotalChaos · 06/06/2008 09:36

the Ostheimer animals (on the same site as Mrs Badger's link) are wonderful, very hardwearing.

ShowOfHands · 06/06/2008 09:52

Traditional toy specialist

The shop's not far from us and is lovely.

Countingthegreyhairs · 06/06/2008 09:58

Oh Mrs B - I want the wooden salad assortment from Myriad - this is worrying ...

Countingthegreyhairs · 06/06/2008 10:01

Meant to add

www.ptolemytoys.co.uk

(not suitable for your dd for a few years yet alittleteapot, but can thoroughly recommend the block & tackle!)

elfsmummy · 06/06/2008 10:05

I've used this before and had fabulous service - usually next day delivery and no quibbles with returns etc.

However now that I've seen Myriad may have to rethink my loyalties!

alittleteapot · 06/06/2008 13:31

Wow, you lot are brilliant. Thank you!

I love the brio kids toys , Brio do a lot of baby & toddler stuff , I always thought they just did trains, but they do a lot more. Kiddykool do a good range that starts from about three quid , also alphabet jigsaws are great and nice and chunky if you get the number ones.

pollywobbledoodle · 06/06/2008 21:30

pinkpussy can get bigjigs stuff from the wooden toy company ( and a lot of things eg train stuff via amazon)

pollywobbledoodle · 06/06/2008 21:31

sorry that first part sounds like a small ad in a contact mag

tibni · 06/06/2008 21:45

I love www.teddiescottage.co.uk Its great for traditional childrens toys.
