Just saw this thread, am also looking for a scooter for a 3 year old and was hoping for suggestions....

mummypig · 13/06/2008 17:28

We like the Micro scooters, ds1 has had one since he was about 4, and we are buying one for ds2 for his 4th birthday as well. All the other scooters they have had seem to fall apart pretty quickly.

Ds1 has a Micro Sprite but the handles are actually a bit high for him if we have it on one of the pre-set heights, so it might be a bit big for your 3.7yo.

We have bought a Micro Lite for ds2. Loads of people round us have their kids on Mini Micros (with two wheels at the front) but what puts me off is that they are heavier at the front so it's quite easy for the kids to fall over the handlebars.

am watching with interest promised dd a scooter was going to get micro sprite and micro g-bike for ds who is 2.5, has anyone got one?

rosealbie · 13/06/2008 17:36

My dd who is just 4, has a mini-micro and they are great.

Pannacotta · 13/06/2008 17:37

Thanks for the tip mnummypig, they look good - the Mini Micro looks about right for a 3 year old. Any ideas where to get one? John Lewis out of stock and the site you linked to charges £5.50 postage!

notasheep · 13/06/2008 17:41

Argos £7.49 for ds who is a huge 3.9yrs hasnt fallen apart yet

Astrophe · 13/06/2008 17:41

We have two mini micros - DD is just 4, DS is 2.3. They are brilliant - I rave to everyone. DD goes zipping along on it and just loves it, and DS although only 2 is catching up too!

Panacotta - I got our second one from the mini micor site (happily, I won the first on MN! ) - bear in mind that if you go into the shops/town you need to pay for parking, and for all the extra stuff you will see and need to buy...just pay the postage and be done with it imho.

Pannacotta · 13/06/2008 18:05

Good point Astrophe, wouldnt have thought about it until I saw it on JL site where postage is free (but sods law its out of stock).

ELR · 13/06/2008 20:41

e-bay

mummypig · 13/06/2008 21:15

£5.50 postage doesn't sound too much to me, but do have a hunt around. I just thought the 'official' site would be the best for showing the various options, but we didn't get ours from there either. I think we bought ours from an online bike/skateboard shop but can't remember the name.

This scooter has been good for us, although hasn't got fab reviews on Amazon. It's stable, but not baby-ish and my son loves scooting to school and back, he's had it since he's just turned 4, although my 2 year old is trying to master it too. My boy couldn't easily master the "2 wheels at the front" type scooter (although he probably would do given time) so bought him this one instead.
