great idea but I'm nervous the air-fryer might not be any good. Any thoughts/experience? Example below K

We've just had an AEG oven with air fryer mode installed. Not tried the air fryer function yet, but plan to soon so will report back.

We sold our air fryer as we didn't use it much and we lacked space in our new kitchen. We didn't realise the new oven had this feature so hopefully it will work ok.

Would adore the feedback. Am at a crucial stage in new kitchen so it will be very helpful Kx

I'd just get a fan oven. An air fryer is just a tabletop fan oven anyway

I'll be honest, I dont get the love for air fryers anyway. We only bought a cheaper one, and it didnt do anything that an oven couldnt do and wasnt even that much quicker.

Exactly. It's exactly the same as the fan oven. And I've got a ninja so supposedly a better one but honestly I'd rather use the oven😂

Beko appliances don’t have the best reputation 😣

An air fryer is just a small fan oven

I have a Samsung oven with air fryer function and find it useless. Takes longer to cook than my separate airfryer and harder to clean. I have bought a ninja airfryer and love it.

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 11/10/2025 17:34

@oxfordkaty I have just cooked some chicken goujon type things in the oven on the air fryer setting. It comes with an oven shelf that is a basket that you use when airfrying.

It was no quicker or difference to the food than had I done it on normal fan oven, or in the air fryer we had before.

So for me, as someone not won over by the air fryer craze, it seems a pointless function. I would have definitely used the defrost function that I specifically requested, and that magnet assured me it had, but doesn't. Not that I'm bitter or anything 😬

Mine has this facility but I’ve never used it

air-fryers are often lauded for their ability to cook fat-free. anyone tried this?

Yep they do. I did a light spray of oil on chips and stuff, but other than that i never used anything. But decent non stick trays in a decent oven, will do the same. I use the scoville neverstick oven trays and pans and very rarely use oil on anything.

An air fryer is just a small fan oven. A big fan oven is technically the same thing but it's just an oven.

The reason the air fryer seems to cook things differently is the size. I would not get an oven-sized air fryer, that seems bonkers to me. It's just a name slapped onto a completely normal fan oven and probably a few 0s added onto the price!

It might not be quicker but the electricity cost is a fraction of a conventional oven.

I dont doubt that, but we don't even use our normal oven loads, so its probably not that noticeable for us.

I suppose the attraction for me was that having had a couple of cookers with 2 ovens I've very rarely simultaneously used both, mainly just for keeping food warm to avoid serving up lukewarm Xmas Dinner! Consequently the possibility of avoiding having an extra appliance taking up space on the countertop appealed massively. Air frying is popular among many of those who follow the same way of eating as me (whole foods plantbased with minimal added sugar salt and oil) because of the ability to cook without added oil. Lovely crispy fries, cauliflower wings, make your own crisps (massive fail when I tried in the microwave) so I was excited by the idea but seeing so few manufacturers had jumped at it I felt it might not have been such a successful innovation. Certainly haven't found any reviews praising the air-fry function of these appliances. Esp love the size point by BertieBotts. All contribs much appreciated Kx
