high chair ideas

I want to get 2 high chairs for my DTS. I particularly like the ones where the seat raises. I also want them to fold. They are to go in the kitchen mainly so I dont want them to be monster sized. Does such a beast exist?
Any ideas folks ?

the graco highchair in babies r us is small for bout £80 alot smaller than the chicco polly which i have and it is huge

can't think of any where the seat raises - have you seen one?

the Ikea Antilops are excellent, cheap and easy to clean, but they don't fold in the conventional way (instead the legs come off so you are just left with the seat) but they don't have a big high backrest so you may find they actually tuck under your table.

Hey Merly was just thinking we are going to need two new highchairs soon as well.

DS1 has the Stokke Tripp Trapp and we love it, but although I would happily get two more (he still uses his without the baby attachment and it is perfect so he can be at the right height and still sit at the table), they don't fold away and I am not sure we have room for three of them in our house.

How are your DTs getting on?

castille · 05/06/2008 15:46

For DD1 we chose an huge, expensive, complicated one with reclining seat that could be set at 5 different heights, but it had so many fiddly bits that it was a total pain to clean and it was quickly and permanently clogged with food scraps.

For DS we bought a simple, compact and entirely cleanable Ikea Antilop for 16 euros.

No contest!

We also have this one which we got for DS1 to keep in the car for when I went to family or friends for meals. It is great as folds completely flat but did find that he really slumped in it until he was about a year old as the back is not upright enough and is not moveable. Also hard to clean (esp if child pukes in it [bleurgh]).

Am considering getting two of these to save space.

Sorry, as am looking for myself too I am posting everything I find here! Just saw this one from Boots.com that has seven height settings, is that what you meant about the seat raising?

tassisssss · 05/06/2008 16:22

I have a folding one from mothercare that's great (almost 5 years old now) as you can bung it in the cupboard when it's not in use. Not that I do this a lot but it's nice to have the option and both houses i've lived in in the past 5 years have had accessible cupboards that've worked well for this.

Do you know that the IKEA cheap one stacks? Could be good for twins.

Hiya Egg
DTs are fab thanks (apart from today was a scream-athon)
The ikea ones were one of our choices being that you can hose them off (crusty food makes me go all goosey, but then a year ago puke would have done the same). The boots one looks like the thing I was thinking of. My sister had a chicco one some 15 years ago that had a removable seat pad and was completely moulded plastic so no crevices for ready brek and the like. I can't see that one now

I have Handysitts for my DTs - they clip onto a normal chair so don't take up any space. Also fold really small so you can take them on holiday or to a cafe.

Hey Merly. I ended up getting two more Tripp Trapps as they look nice and last forever . Just ordered them and can't wait to have all three DCs in a row sitting in them.
