Christmas Food

From.past experience, which supermarkets ( or other outlets) do the best Christmas food?? Has anyone had any particular thing....pudding, bird, cake, etc etc from any supermarket several.years running that they could recommend.. I've seen things in newspapers and magazines in the past recommending particular things from particular places and then bought them and not thought they were as good as they said in the article so I dont trust their judgement. Much more interested to hear actual experiences from real people about Christmas food. Any suggestions.

Marks and Spencer’s do the best picky bits and savoury food, can be ordered in advance but it’s expensive.

I think going cheap on dessert is fine and Morrisons do a nice Yule log.

avoid Iceland/farmfoods

I was wondering about yule log and Morrison..Nearly bought one last year. Had one from Waitrose years ago that was very nice, but was looking for more reasonably priced one that still.might be good. Might get it..Thanks

I was trying Christmas snacks at Aldi chocolate florentines were a massive disappointment. Used to be lovely. Pistachio Turkish delight is really nice though.

Apart from M&S pine cones (which are delicious but now silly money), I'm not buying anything from them for Christmas unless I've tried it or personal recommendation. So much of their stuff has gown downhill (since cyber attack or a coincidence?), their Italian ready meals in particular are pretty yucky and I no longer trust them as a brand. Shame.

The carbonara used to be a staple in our house for a fast dinner after a late after school activity. It’s nowhere near as nice and has gone from 3 for £5 to 3 for £8 albeit in increments over a couple of years. The bolognaise is greasy as they must use cheaper mince now. I only ever pop in for a look for yellow stickers on the way to Aldi next door.
