Help me buy a printer

Not the most exciting post, I know.

But I want to buy a small printer which is easy to set up and prints in colour without smudging on the page. I’m currently using a black and white “brother dcp” which is fine for printing labels etc but not helpful for my hobby where colour and a bit more precision would be good.

I print from my iPad. Speed not important.

Budget up to £100 and I don’t have a brand preference but need low cost ink/toner replacements.

TIA

We've just purchased a HP Office Jet 8120e two months ago and love it! It works so so well, and definitely a lot better than our old Samsung lazer printer. We have the instant ink subscription (optional), which means they send us the inks when we get low, so we never run out. It was so simple to set up, and we couldn't be happier. I think it was about £75-£80? Hope this helps x

I’ve had good luck pairing a small inkjet with software that keeps prints clean and sharp. I’ve used barcode label software for making colour tags, and it surprised me how tidy the output looked once the templates were set up. For compact printers, the Canon TS3150 or HP DeskJet models are easy to set up and don’t smear if you stick to decent paper.

No specific recommendations, but I personally wouldn't buy an HP. They insist you have to use their app for everything. And their app is jeffing useless.

I've always found Brothers to be decent.
