A cheap buggy for a 4/5mo...

Taking DD on holiday (by plane) and don't feel that the Stokke Xplory I currently own is going to be great to transport. So thinking of getting a cheaper buggy for the holiday.

However, then I will need to take a travel cot too. What do you think would be easier? Small lightweight new buggy + travel cot or Xplory? Am new to travelling with baby!

where are you going? lots of places provide a cot

Staying at the IL's French farmhouse so no baby equipment at all (although I am trying to get them to invest in a cot as my SIL is due in October, surely two Grandkids warrants a cot purchase!).

maybe think about buying a cheap cot and leaving it there?

Does the carrycot on the Xplory fold flat? We successfully flew with our whopping 3wheeler by transporting the carrycot flat in one of the suitcases and checking the chassis in separately - dd was in a sling for the journey, obv - and it was a joy to have a decent pushchair to use when we got there.

I can take the carrycot off but it doesn't go flat/any smaller than it is when on the chassis. It's a good idea though if I have a big enough suitcase and then can pack in/around it.

I would like my proper pushchair there and it probably is easier to just buy a cheap cot, we'll definitely get use out of it as will SIL. Much better idea, thank you.

but if you took the Xplory would dd not sleep in the carrycot, leaving the cot problem for another time?

the carrycot migth fit in a soft holdall better than a suitcase

if i wa u i would get a little stroller i got a nice one from argos yesterday a coassato disney buzzy bear one for £60 with a footmuff and bag it is nice and tiny and lies flat is says from birth in the instructions and it is a nice cheapy buggy but god quality and then get a samsonite pop up travel cot the second size one i think it is called the bubble i have the moses basket size one and they r fab then u have a little stroller for when u need it and the pop up cots r good for the house aswell

naomi83 · 01/06/2008 07:44

the bubble costs are expensive and you can only use them for a few months. buy a cheap full size travel cot like this one
www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplayA_42_10751_-1_14053_9909_10001 _14053
(maybe split the cost with your SIL?
kiddicare also have a sale on mcclarens, a quest would be perfect for travel

babyjjbaby · 01/06/2008 09:55

no the bubble one is upto 18mths and alot easier to take with u than a travel coy i think u r thinking of the small pop up cots

I think DD will be too big for the carrycot bit of the Xplory so after much consideration going to buy a small buggy and speak to SIL about us going halves on a proper cot for the house in France.

Sorted thanks for your help.
