Think I may have car seat envy! Is this possible?

Have just shelled out a great deal of spondoolies to get a cybex solution x shipped over from Germany for 4 y/o dd, as we haven't got a car so every time we go in one she falls asleep immediately and her head lolls, and so thought this was te best one for her as her headrest tips back, stopping the loll. However, have been left a car in a will and have my driving test next month, so we will be more mobile soon-should I have got an isofix seat instead? I worry about how flimsy and un-anchored the group 2/3 seats are.

We're saving up for an Isofix for DB3.

I'm going without haircuts - am cutting at home, cuz we want a nice carseat.

We gave the one we used on the DDs to a friend.

Honestly, will she be any safer? Buy the best you can afford and drive carefully, thats the best any parent can do.

That's the annoying thing-the one we got was only slightly less than an isofix one would have been, but because I didn't have my own car I didn't think isofix was a good idea-we were using it for trips out in friend's cars. Once their weight is on the seat is there much difference in anchorage?

The other thing about the Isofix booster seats is that when the child isn't in them, they are still fixed in the car. So if you are unlucky enough to have a crash, you won't have a childseat coming rocketing over the back of your seat at you. Of course, you can get round this on a non-Isofix seat by fastening the seat-belt across the seat even when your dd isn't in it - I knew I would be waaaaay too lazy to do this

The main advantage of Isofix is that it's really hard not to fit them properly. I gather that that's whats makes them safer. Therefore, so long as you take care to ensure the belt secured seats are fitted correctly, they are just as safe. HTH.

Thank you. I really like the seat we have, but am worried that because I am a new driver dd needs to be as safe as possible, grrr!

Good Luck with your test. You'll gain confidence with time.
