Hi, would like some recommendations for a good eye cream please, not too bothered about price as long as it does the job!

princesspea - how much is the erno lazlo eye cream then? i still love my Creme DLM (regardless of all the flak from you guys!) - but i think its really important to switch your products every 6 months to see results. dont know if this is scientific but most beauty experts i've known say your skin does get used to things.
unless you've got super-sensitive skin - then NOT a great idea obviously.

hester dear - shall we start up a "what to wear" make-up junkies thread, trinny and susannah stylie!!!

sansouci - estee lauder is good. the advanced night repair serum is a godsend to anyone who needs all the extra help they can get (most of us past 35 then). BUT the most brilliant thing they do is the Stress Relief Eye Patches - going back to eyes girlies. Chuck these on for 10mins before you put on your touche-eclat and i guarantee you'll need hardly any other make-up. (Ok, maybe a little mascara then.) They are also great for the morning after the night before/jet-lagged eyes - just that general confidence boost of looking a lot fresher than you maybe feel.

princesspeahead · 20/01/2005 15:17

god romilly, I don't know! I bought one pot about 2 years ago, and she gave me a couple of tester pots at the same time (Ibought the whole cleansing range and you know how they chuck extras in the bag when you do that!) and I haven't run out yet!!!

So no idea at all I'm afraid. But certainly not creme de la mer prices, I very much doubt I'd have paid even half that.

romilly · 20/01/2005 15:25

damn - princess p - i was hoping i wasnt the only mug paying disgusting prices for eye gunk

michmash · 20/01/2005 15:26

As a cosmetics counter junkie, I love this thread. Have only started using CDLM moisturiser in the last couple of weeks and was thinking of trying the eye cream after finishing the Shiseido one. Shiseido is OK, but haven't seen anything amazing about it.

However I have recently invested in a tube of one of those botoxy type serums called Serutox. I haven't tried it yet but will report back tomorrow and let you all know if I still have movement in my face. If anyone else has used, I'd love to know what you thought.

MancMum · 20/01/2005 15:30

can I join in on your new make up thread! Just googled the Lanzo eye cream - can be bought for $42 for.oz - so compred to our CDLM addiction - BARGAIN!!

Don't worry Romilly, I too have no shame when it comes spending on face creams. Baby needs a new pair of shoes, mummy needs cleanser. Tough choice....

MancMum · 20/01/2005 15:33

I think that spending money on exenseive face cream is more important than shoes / clothes / kids food (well maybe not htat far) Shoes are a season - your face is forever!!

am going to a body shop party tonight andwill buy the eye cream - DH will faint at price as I never buy face skins stuff for under £40!!

welshmum · 20/01/2005 15:35

Now I know which threads to find the old duffers on!

MancMum · 20/01/2005 15:43

old but smooth skinned wrinkle free duffers, you mean!

princesspeahead · 20/01/2005 15:47

oh don't worry, I'm happy to spend on face creams, but eye creams are just SOOOO unglamorous and the pots are too small to get excited about. so they form a subcategory of "won't spend TOO much on them"...

charleypops · 20/01/2005 15:52

What an interesting thread! I think we should definitely have a separate cosmetics section. I want to know what the best anti-ageing moisturiser/light reflective base/mascaras etc etc are! I might email the mods what do you think?

In danger of slightly highjacking this thread, I'd like to know what eye stuff is best for dark circles?

romilly · 20/01/2005 16:41

michmash - that is just great material! still giggling..

mancmum - yes u most certainly can join in this thread cause not only are you funny but deeply profligate too..

welshmum - what can i say - well & truly busted

charleypops - dark circles eh. i'm afraid its early nights and gallons of water for you lass.
(see i can do free stuff too)

PuffTheMagicDragon · 20/01/2005 18:55

Not an eye cream, but I use it round my eyes and on the rest of my face - Guerlain Issima Midnight Secret - £50 for a 30ml bottle.

I keep going back to it as a night cream because nothing is as good for making my skin look really good.

Lolski · 20/01/2005 19:19

Help...this thread is a nightmare. I have just written down about ten new products that I am going to go out and buy tomorrow. I am no longer going to look at it !!!!!

juniperdewdrop · 21/01/2005 16:47

I was going to start a thread on eye cream but you beat me to it pacinofan!

I'll keep looking in to see which one gets the most votes.

charleypops · 21/01/2005 19:39

Hey Romilly

I've been drinking loads of water yesterday and today and I'm SICK OF GOING TO THE LOO! And I went twice last night when I was supposed to be asleep! It doesn't help being 20 weeks pg

Will my body start retaining a bit more do you think so I don't go so often?

Branster · 21/01/2005 22:39

pacinofan
sorry, I asked the question and didn't get back to answer. I'll write my message tomorrow as I'm supposed to be working on the computer now, not looking at the internet and writing e-mails. But I haven't forgoten.
I'll think of some products.

romilly · 22/01/2005 16:23

charleypops - sorry to hear you are having to spend a lot of your time in the loo - but look at the bright side, you are peeing out all those yukky toxins - i say stick with it

charleypops · 22/01/2005 18:20

Ok Branster, I'll try it for a week - hope the Ribena I keep putting in the water isn't interfering with the detox process...

jessicasmummy · 22/01/2005 18:23

Anew products by Avon

Branster · 22/01/2005 21:24

pacinofan have you ever tried Estee lauder stuff? Meant to be good and lots of women are addicted to it. I can't reccomend a particular product but have a look on thier website, make a list of whayt you think sounds suitable, then go to a counter and ask for advice, then ask for a sample pot on the basis that you want to try it first to make sure you don't get any reaction to it, then decide if it's worth buying anything. otherwise, this new ROC range (can't rememebr the exact name) is advertised as being very good but who knows?
I'd say you should use a light eye cream in the morning to brighten your eyes up (Clarins do something on those lines. I love Clarins but haven't used this new product. However, anything I've ever used from them does exactly as promised). Then use an anti-aging moisturizer at night time (something with retinol or some plants based stuff, whatever you 'feel' is right for you).
And Touche Eclat (just very, very little) brightens the eye area like nothing else. I found that if I use an eye gel before applying TE, it doesn't go on smooth. But it's fine with eye cream.
HTH

Oil of Olay Regenerist

pacinofan · 28/01/2005 15:16

Wow! Loads of great recommendations here, thanks everyone. Have just splashed out on ROC's eyecream (about £16.00 in Boots), had a £5 voucher to use on skincare in Boots so thought I'd give it a go.
