Help! Need advice re Granny-style wheeled shopping trolleys!!

Ever since the DCs outgrew the buggy, I have struggled to carry shopping home. I would like one of those Granny-stylee wheely shopping trolleys (have evidently lost whatever sense of style I might once have possessed) - but can't find one locally. Does anyone have one that they could recommend?

I am 5' 2" and 7 stone, so I think some trolleys might actually be bigger than me (!) - again, I can't tell from the internet. It would need to be waterproof and as I do most of my shopping locally, it would have to hold quite a lot of heavy stuff (milk etc) without falling apart. I also don't know if fabric handles or fixed handles are more practical (see, I am so practical nowadays - though not quite practical enough to want a tartan trolley).

Any advice would be very gratefully received!

I have used Ikea's one for about a year. It seams sturdy so far, holds about £60 worth of mixed shopping from Sainsbury's and is not too grannyish. Don't worry about that anyway, in this current climate of not using carrier bags, surely it is more eco-friendly to use a trolley? So you can be abit smug too!

Now, I hadn't thought of Ikea!

Sounds like an excuse to go and have a piece of Daim pie as well...

Thank you!

Sorry to hijack but do you have a link please? I've been looking for one lately too!

Thanks

FrannyandZooey · 25/05/2008 20:54

oh they are marvellous - really so useful
I got mine from local luggage / bag shop and it was only £15 and called a Hoppa
I only bought it as a trial and thought if I liked it I would get a Rolser one before it fell apart - but it is damn sturdy and shows no signs of wear

Surfermum · 25/05/2008 20:59

I got mine in a charity shop, but our local cobblers sell them as well.

Or try here.

And I agree - they're brilliant. Those that laugh at me (it's called my Roy Cropper shopper at Toddler Group) are just jealous!

LOL at Roy Cropper shopper, Surfermum!!

I love the Rolser ones, but fear I'm too tiny for them (they're a metre tall, and I'm not much more than that myself...)

Why do we not have local luggage shops where I live? And our pesky cobbler just cobbles shoes and puts posters of donkeys in his window. Humph.

I shall look into Hoppas...

I shall also look forward to an on-my-own Ikea trip once half term is over!!

Try ebay, I had a quick search and there were loads on there.

M+S did do a cool foldaway black one. Haven't been lately but probably still do.
