Omega Watch

Couldn’t find a category so put it under shopping. Not sure if this site is the best site to post either.

My grandma recently passed away. She was 93. And she left me an Omega mechanical/automatic watch. They no longer do this style/ line. I don’t think it’s worth a lot (less than 2K probably idk) but it’s worth a lot to me sentimentally.

the self winding is broken and probably needs serviced. It’s around £700-£1,000. Money is no object. I want to be wearing it daily and it’s physically close to me.

because it’s a vintage piece, Omega says I need to send it back to Switzerland and it may take 40-50 weeks. That’s a whole year!

anyone has any experience with Omega servicing and repairs? Is it really that long?

my main goal is to have it repaired and serviced within 6 months, ideally 3 months.

My husband sent his 2017 Omega Speedmaster in for manual wind repair last year and that took 12 weeks if I remember correctly and cost a couple of hundred pounds. Given the age of your watch and the fact they no longer do this style, it sounds pretty accurate in my limited experience

You could ask a local horologist to look at it for you
