Lightweight buggy, which one?

Hello pushchair gurus. I am in need of a lightweight buggy that folds up nice and small to have in the car and to take on holiday. DS is 12 mo, we have a Quinny Buzz at home, which is great, but it's very heavy and takes up loads of space.

I am very shallow and want it to look good . I have an irrational dislike of Maclaren-style buggies as I always think they don't look very comfortable and look a bit bleugh but I am happy to be told not to be silly....

Opinions very welcome! Will be off for a bit and back later.

well as i was going to suggest a maclaren but hey-ho.

new quests are nice.

I did say I am happy to be told I am silly about my Maclaren prejudice!

mothercare are doing a lovely umbrella fold one atm sort of like a maclaren but they have jazzy hoods and seat units look quite funky lime green pink blue etc you mix and match them

nickytwotimes · 20/05/2008 14:58

Oh, quests are fab.

Maclaren buggies are brilliant. Very light, fold easily, raincover works (other ones I tried were awful). I would and have chosen a Maclaren over any other type of pushchair.

I have a Maclaren Techno which is slightly heavier/more expensive than the Quest. However, if you are worried about comfort they are more padded and also lie flat with extendable foot pieces so your DS could sleep in it.

flowerybeanbag · 20/05/2008 17:34

thanks all. I see I am going to have to go and play with a few Maclarens!

Sorry, another Maclaren recommendation!

I swore blind I would never buy one but caved in a couple of weeks back after we found that no boot is big enough for an iCandy Apple and everything you need for a weeks holiday!

Bought a Techno XT and I luuuurve it. DD is only 4 months and is very comfy in it. Nice big hood to keep rain and sun out. I'm almost thinking of booking another holiday just so I can use it again!

quest or triumph

naomi83 · 20/05/2008 19:54

if you don't need one with a recline then the bebe confort vit is fab. its lighter than a mcclaren, easy to fold and push one handed and looks funky.

flowerybeanbag · 20/05/2008 20:34

thanks all

i love love love my micralite. very light weight, and folds as small as maclaren if you pop back wheels off. it's also VERY useful to have air tyres for rougher ground - gravel, sand, snow, autumn leaves etc etc.

and imo it looks cracker.

flowerybeanbag · 20/05/2008 20:53

Looking cracker is definitely a plus!

I had a mclaren quest and sold it on here and got a zapp. I miss the quest. I loved the zapp but it has begun to pee me off, no basket is the worst thing, annoying to fold and unfold is another. I like the look of the zapp better but the mclaren was a lot "easier".

Maclaren every time, I'm afraid, I was sceptical about them to start with too, but it did not last once I had one. I have had about 50 prams/buggies over 3 children and childminding and Maclaren are my favourite.
