white school shirt please help

DH puts DS new white school shirt in washing machine with my new dark brown top.

result beige school shirt

DH then tumble dries school shirt

Then bleaches beige school shirt

WE NOW HAVE YELLOW/CREAM/BEIGE SCHOOL SHIRT

Please help how can I get it back to white or even whiteish.

It was a new shirt

Why he did he tumble dry a beige shirt rather than put back in wash????????

IS IT COMPLETLEY RUINED?????

If bleached again will it go more yellow or white?

Lakeland do a laundry magic cloth thing that you pop in the wash and it attracts all the stray colours (including if you pop colours and whites togehter). Its brill but no good after the event - sorry !

What about one of those sachets that you use to brighten net curtains?

And a good kicking for your husband?

can you buy a new DH?

Vanish do a stain remover that gets rid of colour runs in washes? Maybe try that?
It might be a long shot, else Tescos sell them quite cheaply

yes thats what i thought about the tumble drier

he even noticed it was beige before putting it in

WHY?

I thought it was ruined too just thought someone would have brill idea.

We used to have some of those colour attract things but cant find them.

Do you all think bleach will make it more yellow???

There are a few colour run things you can get at the supermarket, and you could try the net curtain brightener. I would also try bleaching it again and keep dunking it/put something int he bowl to weight it down while it soaks.

Shirts are only about £2 these days from places like Asda and Matalan and Tesco. I would buy a new one and take the cost of it out of his beer money.

I will deffo try bleach because we already have that in house.

RTK, I know you don't want to hear this, but I think it's probably the bleach that sealed it's fate. A colour run remover may have worked, but bleach doesn't always -erm- bleach white some fabrics, just turns them yellow.

Save yourself some hassle and go and get a new cheapy one tomorrow. And tell dh not to try and be so clever next time - horses for courses (Only joking, I'm sure he was only trying to be helpful - I'd never get my H within 6 feet of our washing machine. XXX

I think heat, ie the dryer, sets the stain/new colour.
