Can you tell me what you have. How you like etc?

I think i'd like one that converts to a stroller...

I have got a Burley Bug and I love it. It's far more stable than a bike seat and DS can't drop things out of the bike because he's enclosed.

It does convert to buggy but you have to buy a separate kit to do it with. I haven't bothered.

Choose one with a roll bar and safety flag. Otherwise I don't think it makes much odds what make it is (might be more to choose between them though if you want to make it into a buggy. Personally I keep a baby carrier in the back instead though DS is 2.6 now and walks most places.)

i dont trust em. not on these country lanes people go tearing about on. nor city traffic really. dont have the fitness to pull one with 3 dc in anyway so its a moot point.

we did have one like you say, converts to stroller. was fab for moving the dc about at the big chill last summer? summer before i think. and we've used it for charging about the gdn and rounding up reluctant toddlers for mealtimes etc. has gone all rusty in the garden now.

How easily does it fold Mrsgboring?

Nappies- Mostly we go on the trail. I want to cycle to and from work and then pick the little two from the childminders on the bike. Maybe I will walk them to the cm in the trailer if it is a pushchair as well?

sounds lovely.
that bug one looks nice.
have to say, my kids all loved going in ours.

Collision · 18/05/2008 17:59

We loved ours....got it on Ebay from a shop so didnt bid for it....DH used it all the time to ferry the children everywhere.

It got stolen from our front garden last summer....it was locked etc but they cut the lock.....barstewards!

NappiesGalore · 18/05/2008 18:02

how irritating.

TheOriginalXENA · 18/05/2008 18:22

How annoying collision! What make was it?

I've never really folded it up. It did seem relatively easy but that was only when we assembled it - it lives in our garage fully assembled.

We've got a Burley D'Lite - v similar to the Burley Bug. It's very easy to fold/dismantle - takes about 2 minutes to remove wheels & towbar & collapse.

If you're really keen on using it as a stroller though, Chariot trailers are probably better - you can just flip down the front wheels (leave them attached)

Have I seen somewhere on mumsnet that you have a Kangaroo bike??!! I'd LOVE one of those, or a Nihola - tell me all about it

TheOriginalXENA · 20/05/2008 20:02

Yes I had a kangaroo bike- have sold it now as I can't manage the hill from work to school. I was really sad to let it go. My idea is to get a regular bike and trailer, leaving the trailer at the school and then pickng it up at the end of the day!

I love my bike buggy, I have used it for just over a year now, and through the winter, it hasn't lasted well, but I think it wasn't designed to last 3 trips a day, five days a week, with two children, school bags and shopping...

Takver · 20/05/2008 20:28

I think the ones with solid bottoms (as opposed to cloth) last better. I've used a Burley Bee and it definitely wasn't designed for heavy use.
DD has now graduated (via Islabikes trailerbike - which is fab & totally flawless IMO) to her own bike thank goodness!
I've got a Croozer cargo trailer now, and it is really well made, I don't know if their child trailers are as good but mine is very sturdy & wasn't too expensive.

Takver · 20/05/2008 20:38

Forgot to say that the bikesandtrailers.com website has a good selection that you can look at to compare different ones

We have a chariot trailer and buggy wheels (we got both sets, the two buggy wheels for in town and the jogging wheel for off-road) It wasn't cheap but as it's our only buggy that was less of an issue. I love it and as I don't drive it's our main tranport during the week. I take it into town two or three times a week (we have a cycle path from the end of our road into town) and then use it as a pushchair on the other days. It folds easily, but not very small. Also we have a single as the double won't fit through a standard door way.

I think it's worth going and looking at a few before you decide. We looked another chariot (they didn't have the one we wanted in stock) having decide they looked the best for us and then put our name down for the next delivery then and there.
