Just a quick note-I've used iron on labels in the past and in my experience, they don't work! Once they've been washed a few times, they get all gluey and roll up! Maybe I didn't do it right, but that's just my experience. If you have the time, you can get sew on labels printed (about 100) I think, in different colours and texts but you'd need to check around shops that do them. We have a shop here called Early Years and they do them but it depends where you live, I think. Good Luck and I hope your little boy has a great time at school!

i'm hopeless at sewing so i am looking for an alternative
helenmc · 01/01/2003 16:46
the ones from M&S are quite good - but you have to follow the easy instructions exactly, no short cuts. They will print them out while you wait as well.

I've not used them but you could try Easy2Name. Tel 01635 298326. Ad says dishwasher proof stickers, iron on nametapes, permanent transfers, traditional woven tapes.

The school itself usually has a company it recommends, you should give them a ring and see if your one does it too.

jinna, I just write on mine with a fine-point permanent marker - on the clothes' labels I mean - or if a label happens to be black then a Tipp-ex pen or a silver gel pen does the trick.
I hate sewing too!
The permanent markers are good for inside pumps, wellies etc as well.
WideWebWitch · 02/01/2003 02:44
agree with janh, I write them all on with an indelible marker. Quicker than sewing, yuk!
SoupDragon · 02/01/2003 08:39
I've printed them out on t-shirt transfer paper using our inkjet printer before. I already had the paper though. They just iron on and don't seem to wash off or fade.

I bought iron-on labels from Namemark - cost something like £5 for 50. Got these about 3 months ago and the clothes have been through the wash countless times and labels are still there - no peeling or fading. I also had to buy stick on labels for beakers and milk bottles to send in to nursery and got these from Namemark too and they've all stayed put, having gone through the dishwasher lots of times (think you can use these on shoes for school). I got these through the internet - www.namemark.co.uk, would definitely recommend them and they're not as expensive as some.
