Quinny push chairs - are they worth the money?

DS is 2 and his current pushchair is on its last legs.

I see many people with Quinny pushchairs but no one to ask.

TIA

i have a Zapp

DH purchased it and i don't like it

it folds up very small, but IMO that is its only plus point

it doesn't recline, the shopping bag is rubbish, and it takes the slightest puff of wind to make it fall over

if your heart is set on it then buy off Ebay as it will be cheaper

Volkl · 13/05/2008 14:16

thank you - i wasnt aware of it falling over, thats a concern

Glad i asked!

Depends which one. The Zapp and the Freestyle are well worth the money in my opinion. I think the Buzz is style over substance though.

Naetha · 13/05/2008 20:04

I have the buzz and it's excellent, however my DS is only 4 months, and yours may outgrow it too soon to make it financially viable.

I'm so glad I got the buzz though - every feature it has has come in handy / been invaluable at some point, and it's just the right mix of off-road and town friendly to make it a jack of all trades. Having said that, I'm not hampered by having a small car boot, or by lack of strength to lift it up our front steps.

Love my Buzz, borrowed a friends Zapp for the weekend as DD2 is now 19m so I want something smaller and loved that too - will now be selling the Buzz and buying the Zapp - anyone want a Buzz with car seat, raincover, buzz bag, underneath shopping bag etc etc?!

cupsoftea · 13/05/2008 20:08

iirc the handle bars of the zapp don't allow for a bag to go across

callmeovercautious · 13/05/2008 20:11

I would not recommend it if he is 2. I have the biggest one - a Speedi SX and DD is growing out of it already at 20m - she is tall though.

I don't have any real complaints though. If you have a people carrier you can put it in the boot without dismantling it or folding it. Is sturdy and when DD was small the Carry cot and car seat combi was great.

Also for older LO the straps don't do up over their shoulders with the foot muff in.

YerMaw · 13/05/2008 20:16

I have a Zapp, folds up very small and is very nice to push on flat surfaces.

It's crap on rough ground, doesn't come with a basket (although I got one from a company on ebay that sells good ones, they're 25 quid iirc) You can't put stuff over the handlebars really, because it will tip.

I don't think if I was shopping for a new buggy tomorrow I'd buy another Zapp, tbh.

mustsleep · 13/05/2008 20:17

the zapp won;t fall over that easily if your lo is two

we had one from birth for dd with the carseat and it would only fall over if you'd overloaded with bags

the main thing is really do you need it to recline if not i'd go for it and buy a underseat shopping basket off ebay

have you thought about a petite star mini zia just like the zapp but lighter easier to fold and reclines and has an underseat basket much better valuefor money

cali · 13/05/2008 20:20

Wheel fell off zapp and could not get it on again. Was just out of warranty too, have recently tipped it. Loved it until this happened, you can/could buy a string bag on ebay that was great for my zapp.
Have had a Loola for 6 months now and I love it even more than the zapp

BexieID · 14/05/2008 04:47

Didn't like Zapp or Zia. Love my Micralite, although that seems to be falling apart now, lol.

sazm · 25/05/2008 13:48

i have a zapp for my 2yo and LOVE it,
the petite star zia does look good though if its something small youre after.

MuffinMclay · 25/05/2008 19:50

Zapp is great if you want a pushchair to fit in a tiny car boot. I got mine for that reason and it has been great. Not sure there's any point having one otherwise.

Great to push around towns. Hopeless on grass, rough ground, gravel.

You can't put anything heavier than a lettuce on the handles or it will topple over.

Dh struggles to put it up and down, but I have no problems. There is a knack.

LaDiDaDi · 25/05/2008 19:59

I love my Zapp but really it pretty much only gets used in town, I would imagine it to be pretty hard to use on rougher surfaces.

I don't find it a problem to put and down at all tbh and dd sleeps in it even though it doesn't recline. You really can't hang bags from the handles as it would tip easily if you did.

littlepinkpixie · 25/05/2008 20:00

I have a Zapp.
Plus points: Looks good, very easy to push on the level.

Cons: No shopping basket. tips if you have anything on the handlebars. Doesnt cope with any more than the smallest bump.

I got mine half price in a Boots sale, and i think that for what I paid it was worth it. Wouldnt have thought so if I had paid full price though.
