I am thinking about buying them, but the ones I have cost £45 and I need to know why it's worth spending the extra (didn't know they existed when I bought my set).

they heat up to 210 degrees and they have a secondary heating system which doesnt damage the hair

i got ghd's for my xmas, puff. my hairdresser uses them and i just thought they felt so smooth and non-tuggy on my hair. they heat up in seconds. ive never used any others tho, so i cant compare. its probably a little bit about 'the name', but they are effing brilliant!

as i say, i dont know if they are any better than cheaper ones or not

as someone with hair that resembles basil brush's tail- i have tried many many different hair straighteners and can honestly say that ghd are the only ones that make my hair look nice.
dont know why they do, but they are worth every penny IMO.

I am currently bidding on ebay for a pair. Currently up to £19!!!! Know that I will never get them for less than about £50 though, but I'm trying!!!!
I have used other peoples and my hair grows about 3 inches. They are just fantastic and I will get some. Dh would hit the roof if he knew how much they were!

lol tiredemma re Basil Brush hair - just like mine the morning after I've washed it. It used to be poker straight, glossy and shiny, but post-2 children its a lifeless haystack!

Puff, my DDs had them for Christmas this year, after a variety of cheaper ones before, and they were orgasmic with delight...having had my hair straightened by DD1 with her old ones, which snatch and pull, and then with the GHDs, which glide, I could see why.

Ringlets!!! I'd like those as a change to poker straight occasionally, a la Katie Meluha (sp?).

BH, if you want to do ringlets then you can get by with the very skinny ones which are cheaper. Good price here (you have to register first but no big deal) and you get some freebies thrown in.
