Den Light - safe for little hands but bright enough to not strain the eyes

Does such a thing exist?

I'm happy with mains or battery powered, but I want it quite bright (good enough to read by). Ceiling very low - so needs to be cool to the touch and sealed in enough to be safe for toddlers to touch.

I was thinking some kind of LED jobby - but hard to tell which ones would be bright enough.

Cheap is good!

Den, as in a sort of playhouse?

What about those battery-run wardrobe lights that you press on and off?

I got just the thing for DS.
It was from BHS and is squarish in shape with a plastic shade ("cool to touch") that is completely enclosed. He has it in the Tenty thing under his high bed.

One drawback, it is white with an England flag on it.

If you do get battery powered make sure you know how much the batteries cost

my mum got me a brilliant LED booklight for Christmas last year (I think it was pretty cheap) but the batteries need replacing all the time and cost about £6 each time!

Yes, like and indoor playhouse with a low ceiling (alright, alright, it's more of a cupboard - but the kids will love it).

What kind of wardrobe lights? [going off googling]

Unfortunately seems BHS don't do that light anymore - but I can visualise what you mean. Is is bright enough for reading?

Good point about batteries - but it might be worth knowing kids couldn't electrocute themselves...

Get a re-charger!

BHS light is bright enough for reading. It's absolutely super really, I just have a problem with the England flag.

Actually thinking back, it wasn't BHS, it was Homebase, but they don't do them anymore, I was looking last week to see if there was anything similar to fit safely to the top bunk. No luck so far.

Cats - surely something labelled a night light will just vaguely glow rather than really light up? Though I guess I could get lots the same to make it a feature...

Interesting about the energy saving bulbs... I didn't know that
